A great place to gain and develop collaborative professional experience

Overall, as my comments above show, my experience with QiTASC was largely positive. This does not mean it was a perfect experience or without challenges, but when I look back on my experience as a whole, my 3+ years at QiTASC were enriching and helped me develop professionally. This is especially the case because I come from a different field, which I have returned to since leaving QiTASC. The new skills and ways of thinking at QiTASC are invaluable to how I approach problems/tasks in my "old" field.
Working at a startup poses different challenges related to structure, predictability and the delineation between job tasks. For people who enjoy working independently yet collaboratively, such environments are great opportunities for trying new things out, experimenting and working with people from other disciplines they might otherwise not encounter. For those who enjoy rigid structures and supervision, they may be happier at a large, well-established corporation.

The work atmosphere in my team (documentation), as well as within the development team as a whole was pleasant, collaborative and friendly.
Kommunikation
My boss (the head of development), very much had an "open-door policy" and encouraged me to openly discuss any issues, concerns, ideas, etc. with him. It was usually easy to get a quick response or information about important/urgent issues.
Kollegenzusammenhalt
QiTASC's team was the best team I have worked with. The development team was extremely supportive and collaborative, and the mutual respect and appreciation amongst my team made working on challenging tasks fun, and kept me motivated. Employees came from diverse fields, which meant that there were experts in many different topical areas. That was one of my favourite parts about the team, because there was so much to learn from my colleagues and their approaches to any given task or problem.
Work-Life-Balance
The company offers flexible time (Gleitzeit) as well as options for home office. As an immigrant from North America, the "life" part of work-life-balance can be quite complex. QiTASC went above and beyond my expectations in supporting me and helping me find a proper work-life balance when urgent and unexpected family issues back home arose. It cannot be understated how much I valued such flexibility.
Vorgesetztenverhalten
My supervisors showed strong leadership skills by providing direction and clearly setting short and longterm goals for me, providing regular feedback, and also giving me plenty of independence to execute my own ideas and projects. I appreciate the trust they put in me to carry out projects and their willingness to let me try out different proposed ideas/projects.
Interessante Aufgaben
My tasks were varied, interesting and grew in complexity over time as I gained experience and more familiarity with software development in general and the company's products.
