I loved that when worktime was over, I could do what I wanted. I loved the personal freedom, that I could have a private life next to this job. People can work and have children, even women can have a leading role. It's not a crime to be a mother and a project manager. I think this makes this company unique in switzerland.

Verbesserungsvorschläge
Get rid of "experts" and anybody from the "old adnovum" who can't change. They had the time to do it, more than enough. I'm sorry but the job market and the industry changed a lot in the last 15 years and these people didn't. How would they know how to keep the company young and modern, how would they understand what competitors do? They never worked anywhere else.
Arbeitsatmosphäre
Within the team good, Budapest, Portugal, very good. Zürich in general is a bit toxic if you are not in the mainstream.
Kommunikation
There's a big gap between how the management communicates and how the middle management communicates (unit leads, project managers). With upper management communication I'm satisfied. On middle management level we were mostly faced with decisions, with zero involvement in the decision making process and zero opinion, but full responsibility. For e.g. staffing changes are regularly just "announced" and if your team happens to be the one which loses 1-2 developers, you are the last to know.
Kollegenzusammenhalt
Team members are sticking together, in good, in bad, across locations. There are certain groups which show unhealthy development, especially the group of dinosaurs - people who work there more than 10-15 years and who kind of own the key decision making positions. I was never bullied, but I knew that they were talking a lot behind my back and they made my career very difficult.
Work-Life-Balance
The company doesn't care what you do, as long as you do your job on time, with good quality and you don't block others.
Vorgesetztenverhalten
Middle management (unit leads) and project management is not good. They are mostly former software engineers who never ever worked anywhere else. They expect maximum loyalty from you, but they don't protect you against the customer, they leave you alone in trouble. They just delegate you work and deal with it. If you are overloaded, or don't have work, deal with it. The customer complains about you because of this, you are left alone. At the end you are always left alone, taking the blame.
The only person I truly love and respect above is the Chief Executive Officer, who tries to break down the tiny kingdoms of middle managers and their friends. I just didn’t have an extra 5 years in my career until he's done.

Fun projects are shared among friends of friends, if you are not in the circle, you only see them first on a company presentation when the project is done.
Gleichberechtigung
I'm not swiss and I was never discriminated because of my migration background. The company is very flexible about nationality, age, gender and sexuality. There are lot of women, young mothers in leading roles which I find extremely progressive and good compared to swiss standards.
Umgang mit älteren Kollegen
Except a few, those who are at the company for - too - long, so called experts, it's not fun to work with. It seems that at a certain point some people got into leading position based on seniority and friendship, rather than talent, skills and experience. These people are stubborn, reluctant to change or grow, and ase a result their departments are also not changing or growing. People with new ideas, different views or values are not welcome. Those who want to change things are pushed out of the company by the immune system of the middle management.

Excellent offices in every location. I want to highlight the cleaning ladies, who are the cornerstone of the "society", their kind words, care and just asking how do you do saved many people from spontaneous burnout.

The Marketing Officer is a genious and he really knows his job. I wish that the company will be once what he tries to sell.
Karriere/Weiterbildung
You can have trainings and CAS programs approved, nobody tells you but if you know that you have a yearly budget and you didn't study for a while, they usually support you.
The work itself is dry, easy and boring.Adnovum works on projects which come from companies without IT department, or from companies which outsource the bad projects. Anyhow, the work at adnovum is just like in other typical software companies. I'm sorry but not everybody can work on AI and self driving cars, some people need to do taxing, accounting and administrative systems as well! If you are a junior, this company is for you. You can learn the basics in very good environment. As you will become a senior, you will sooner or later get stuck with your carreer and eventually you will leave for more money and challenges. And people leave to good places like google. It's a pity that adnovum can't retain smart, talented people.
