Junior Software Engineer
Gut am Arbeitgeber finde ich
The culture is great. I can't recommend it enough. The same goes for the standards towards code quality. Everything is reviewed, and the opportunities for mentorship are excellent. Everyone is very smart and motivated.
Schlecht am Arbeitgeber finde ich
Salary negotiation seems to be necessary, but this is the same everywhere I suppose, and it's a normal result in capitalist systems. Also, it would be good if working from home were a little more tolerated. It's discouraged in general, although still possible.
Arbeitsatmosphäre
The atmosphere is great, very friendly, sociable and fun.
Work-Life-Balance
Great work-life balance. Strong policy of no on-call time. I very rarely did any overtime, and even then I could have opted out if I really didn't want to.
Interessante Aufgaben
The culture is quite flexible, changing to work on another part of the software was generally accomodated as much as possible. However, as it's a small company, there are of course limits to what is possible.
Gleichberechtigung
I don't really have any data to really answer this question, however there was a very clear impression that this was taken very seriously by management.
Arbeitsbedingungen
The default machine I was given was a bit too low spec for development work. So asking for reasonable specs is advised(same for any job though I suppose). Getting upgrades was straightforward however.
Gehalt/Sozialleistungen
Sadly, negotiating up seems to be necessary. This aspect was the primary reason I ended up leaving.
Karriere/Weiterbildung
The best mentoring I've ever had was at this company. Lots of very smart, enthusiastic and patient colleagues always willing to answer questions or give code reviews.
