As a Test and Integration Engineer (f/m/d) for Battery Energy Storage Systems at Siemens Energy, you are in charge for operation, testing and validation of our battery energy storage components & solutions which are an essential part to enable the energy transition. Together with a team of experts you abstract the core challenges for new Battery systems, test and validate to guaranty product compliance and define the new steps to be investigated and solved within R&D and customer projects.
How You’ll Make an Impact
- Being the responsible electrician in charge for safe testing and operation of Battery Energy Storage Test facility in Mülheim an der Ruhr
- Support the development of design verification and validation plans for stationary utility scale lithium-ion Energy Storage Systems
- Support the development of test specifications to ensure compliance with product requirements and industry standards
- Execute hands on design verification and validation tests to evaluate system's functionality (Controls, Power Electronics, Battery System)
- Collaboration and communication with operation team, internal engineering departments and external labs and suppliers
- Create and/or review battery system test reports and communication of deviations with concerned departments
- Drive the development of technical solutions, Battery related I&C task definition and documentation to Control system Engineering
- Drive risk evaluation and cost optimization for Battery systems within overall BESS solutions
What You Bring
- Completed university degree in electrical engineering or similar
- Proven responsibility and experience around system commissioning and operation with expert knowledge in the field of electrical systems and/or utility scale Battery Systems
- Professional experience in testing, validation and certification, especially for Li-Ion batteries and converter is a plus
- Knowledge of relevant Li-ion battery standards, e.g. IEC62619, IEC 62933-5-2, IEC 62485-5, UL1973, UL2580, UL9540, UL9540A, NFPA 855 and UN38.3.
- Willingness to get in charge and become the Go-to-Person for the operation of Battery Energy Storage Test facility in Mülheim an der Ruhr as well as to get hands on, drive and execute all maintenance works needed
- Confidently working and collaborating with internal teams such as system engineering, software engineering, hardware engineering, project management and external test labs and suppliers
- Having experience with defining and evaluating safety requirements of batteries and associated components
- Experience in operation and software engineering with SPPA-T3000, PCS7 or a comparable operating environment would be a plus
- Communication skills is on a high level in English; Basic German skills are required
