We are currently looking for a Head of Teaching (all genders) based in Berlin, or working remotely within the EU/UK with regular visits to Berlin.

Your mission with us:

Human First teaching is the core of Lingoda’s Product Vision.

Supported by a fully integrated learning experience, AI-enabled personalization and dynamic interactive tools, as Head of Teaching you will play an essential role in hiring, developing and making Lingoda’s teachers the key part of our learners' success to achieve their learning objectives.

Reporting to the VP Learning, you will be responsible for all teacher resourcing across our B2C & B2B business verticals.

Your tasks:

Teacher Management

  • Lead the Teacher Management and Teacher Experience teams to evolve and deliver the Lingoda Teacher value proposition

  • Be the guardian of quality for the student. Ensure student satisfaction scores and pass rates are maintained and improved over time. Ensure that teacher performance is subject to continuous improvement

  • Manage teacher supply to fulfil all classes, covering both B2C language teachers and specialised teachers for B2B Health initiatives (i.e  Medizinpädagoge*in, Arzt/Ärztin)

  • Develop and implement data-driven strategies to monitor and manage teacher performance (quality), supply and demand

  • Motivate, train and support our teachers to create a successful working partnership with Lingoda 

  • Implement strategies to continuously measure and improve teacher performance

  • Provide a supportive and high quality environment for teachers to thrive and perform, such as helping teachers connect with each other, training them how to use the latest tools provided in the product

  • Be the voice of the teacher, representing this important group throughout the organisation to influence Lingoda’s marketing and product experience

    Team Leadership

  • Lead and manage a team of 9 language teacher managers and 14 medical educators, providing guidance and support

  • Developing recruitment strategy to ensure the team is able to keep up with the high demand for teachers

  • Fostering a positive and productive environment that promotes professional growth and development

    Cross-functional Collaboration

  • Working closely with our Digital Education & Customer Success teams to ensure information is proactively shared to continuously improve our educations programs

  • Engage with Student Success to investigate, track and resolve student issues arising from teacher behaviour

  • Align with Product & Engineering to deliver commercial and strategic outcomes

  • Connect closely with evolving business verticals in the organisation to ensure demand spikes are monitored and resolved

You bring to Lingoda:

  • Strong educational experience, preferably leading an online or offline language learning school

  • Strong experience in successfully managing teachers to deliver demonstrable quality at scale, including teacher recruitment, training, retention, observation, scheduling, and continuous improvement

  • Analytical mindset and forecasting skills to work with the data team in managing teacher resources and preventing shortages

  • Strong leadership & management skills that motivate teams and win respect

  • An entrepreneurial mindset, capable of making things happen and making decisions within a strategic framework working towards agreed OKRs/ KPIs

  • A hands-on approach with attention to detail

  • Confident and decisive, supporting decisions and gaining support with insight and analyses

  • Basic understanding of labour law in regards to teacher workforce

  • Experienced C2 level in German; fluency in English
