Postdoctoral Scientist in Prevention Research

The Division of Primary Cancer Prevention has set itself the task of developing new strategies to reduce cancer risk factors in the population, optimizing the implementation of these strategies, and evaluating their effectiveness.
Our interdisciplinary team is particularly dedicated to the development and evaluation of innovative strategies to reduce cancer risk factors in the population. Our research is embedded in the National Cancer Prevention Center.
Our goal is to establish effective, evidence-based prevention strategies that sustainably prevent cancer and promote population health. Our research combines scientific excellence with practical and political relevance to generate research data and evidence that can serve as a basis for political decision-making.
Our vision is a comprehensive prevention approach that integrates population-based, targeted (setting-based), and personalized approaches. Personalized approaches, i.e. offers tailored to the individual risk profile, are particularly relevant for people at high risk.

Your Tasks

We are seeking a motivated, public health oriented and research-driven scientist to join our team and to actively contribute to our research program. You will be responsible for the development and conduct of research projects in the field of primary cancer prevention, with a focus on personalized approaches. In this role, your tasks include the preparation of scientific presentations and publications, writing of grant applications, statistical analysis of epidemiological data, and supervision of MSc/PhD students and study staff.

Your Profile

  • Successful completion of MSc and PhD in Social or Health Sciences (e.g., Epidemiology, Public Health, Sociology, Psychology)
  • Proficiency in advanced statistical/epidemiological data analysis and programming (ideally SAS or R)
  • Profound knowledge and strong interest in prevention research
  • Ability to work independently and in a goal-oriented manner
  • Excellent command of written and oral English
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
