Don’t be fooled by the 2-year-old positive reviews. Was great, still looks great on the surface, is however NOT great.
Schlecht am Arbeitgeber finde ich
Depending on your team leader, you can either have a great experience (unfortunately not so common) or a terrible one (definitely more the management style enforced by LOVOO).
Arbeitsatmosphäre
Great teams and colleagues, very nice offices, breakfast is a nice add-on.
Kommunikation
The Management QA sessions are a quite poorly executed show where the Top Management pretends to be transparent while not answering the questions truthfully or directly and seems oblivious to the fact that no one in the company is being duped by it.
Kollegenzusammenhalt
The one great thing about LOVOO that hasn’t changed.
Work-Life-Balance
The pressure is high and the goals very often unrealistic. Management even used to give 200% goals “for motivation” (Plot twist: it doesn’t work).
Vorgesetztenverhalten
LOVOO promotes a flat hierarchy but Top Management specifically dissuades direct communication (put nicely). A lot of Head positions are decided based on the people’s capability of being cut-throat and ruthless with their teams (gaslighting skills are a plus). If you decide to work here, make sure you document every single communication with your manager and HR.
Interessante Aufgaben
Well… definitely not saving the world.
Gleichberechtigung
Being friend with the Management helps a lot in order to get leadership positions, new opportunities and development possibilities. New hires get much more money than people who have been there for a while for the same kind of positions (in the same teams), causing strong injustice feelings between team members (and the reason why a lot of colleagues left).
Umgang mit älteren Kollegen
Never a problem, although the average age level is pretty young.
Arbeitsbedingungen
Compared to traditional German companies LOVOO offers good work conditions, but compared to other tech companies in Berlin, they’re average.
Umwelt-/Sozialbewusstsein
As long as it helps their image.
Gehalt/Sozialleistungen
Salaries are low compared to other tech companies and once you’ve settled, it is very complicated if not impossible to get a raise (1 to 2% raise at best).
Karriere/Weiterbildung
Low budgets for personal development which 1. Limit the trainings you can do and 2. Limit the number of people who can have access to it pro team. If you’ve started at the “bottom”, you will have great difficulty to reach a leadership position (even if you’re qualified) as LOVOO will always prioritise external hires for these positions, even if it means hiring less competent people.
