Great experience but exploitation of interns
Verbesserungsvorschläge
Value your interns and volunteers!
Arbeitsatmosphäre
Simply an amazing environment. Stunning every day to walk into that building. Some of the organization's values do not translate into treatment of interns, though.
Kommunikation
As an intern you will find yourself reminded of being at the bottom of the food chain all the time.
Kollegenzusammenhalt
Great colleagues, especially strong among the interns. My department was a bit plagued with internal drama and one person in particular tried to influence interns and get them on a particular side. There was no help with this (or warnings) by superiors.
Work-Life-Balance
12-16 hours for unpaid interns, it was expected to step up for superiors on a regular basis (again, with no pay whatsoever).
Vorgesetztenverhalten
Most of them are committed people you can learn a lot from but they are too willing to let you work their hours and even do some stuff they should really be doing themselves.
Interessante Aufgaben
The positive side of having to step up for your superiors is that you can really do a lot.
Arbeitsbedingungen
A little bit noisy sometimes and some of the IT has not aged well. But everyone tries to do what they can on the relatively low budget (may have changed as the building was renovated since I left).
Gehalt/Sozialleistungen
Abysmal treatment in that regard when it comes to interns outside o the official programs.
Image
10 years later my experience there still seems to open some doors and helps in job interviews.
Karriere/Weiterbildung
There was not really any way to stay or come back but since it was an internship while I was still at university that is to be expected.
