First of all, the telephone interview was really professional and cheered me up for the second talk. They urged me come for an in-person interview on site on a very unsuitable time for me. But because it looked so promising I gave in and rescheduled a lot for this date.
Then, during the interview I soon realized the hiring manager didn't read my CV properly: he suddenly claimed I was unqualified for the job. Then I showed him the passages in the CV that really prooved my qualifications (graduation and work experience). Then it ended basically in "me vs. him", because he couldn't change his mind about a wrong assumption (your experience is useless). Then he came up additional requirements that were not at all in the job-ad, just to show me, how unqualified I was.
Maybe I gave the impression of overconfidence because I knew I could totally do the job and I thought I would love it. What better can a company wish for than people who are really motivated self-starters?
Maybe it was a situation of an alpha-male being afraid of rivals.
What a waste of time for everybody:
- Why invite people over before reading the CV?
- Why reading the CV for the first time during the interview?
- Why reading it sloppy and then roast the applicant?
I guess it is a personal character flaw and I doubt I would have enjoyed working with these people. Will the leadership constantly be unprepared for meetings they've called and then bully subordinates? Maybe they think this is normal behaviour. It's too sad the industry let's such behaviour slip into managerial roles.
Good I found out before I quit my current job for this.
Still sad that possibly good jobs are ruinded by toxic behaviour.
