I have applied online and I was recruited.

The first interview was with the CTO ... okay... He had very bad energy, as himself told me, and he explained why do I see toys in the background, because he took refuge on his child bedroom so he could get a better one. I don't think that helped much. We had a contradictive discussion about Apaleo, he told me that what I know is not true (they are not working with legacy code), and that I am confusing it with another company. According to their own website at that time I was right, I checked after the interview. Then I had a codding chanllenge (reverting a list, and write unt tests for it). I have completed it, but I have seen that he was utterly interested in the fact that it worked, and not my PRESENTATION skills ... ( I found this wierd because that is why it is called in German VORSTELLUNGEN - sgespräch ....)

As I have said the coddling challenge above worked, so I have got the honor to get the next interview with the person X. The person Y showed up using the persons X skype accound, and preteded to be X. Of course, he did not explayied everything. Hoe do I know that Y was no X? Read the "Fragen" section.

Bewerbungsfragen

  • Nothing. I was left with the impression that they are looking for a high precision gun that fires code, not a human.
  • So as I've said, I knew the intrviewrs name, and like any esponsible candidate I knew who was X. I did after the second interview some reserach to find out who is Y. He was no programmer at all. He shared a powerpoint with some C# and OOP interview questions from the web. To one of them the answers were all wrong, I have explained why, but we was continously asking "so which answer do you chose?". Another word thah we he was using freqenty was "ok".
  • I have had a demo prepared to show him that protobuff is fater that JSON, he told me to argumentate. I told him that that's what the demo does, a compariosn and I wanted to show him, but he did not wanted to, he was expecting an verbal argumentation instead. Some talk insted of some work ... hm...
  • I did not qualify furtherer, and I now am gald that happed that way, even that bakc then I was in a sort of a desperate situation.
