I had two interviews out of planned 4. People were nice and professional. But, what they don’t tell you is that in the middle of the interviewing HR in UK will ask you to provide a police certificate. They ask for an awful lot of your private, sensitive data (that have nothing to do with the temporary inside sales position you applied for). They want you to give consent to some external company in the US to conduct a research on your background, including criminal record. Both, HR and that hired company are outside EU, so I expect very little to no privacy in handling my personal, private data.

This modus operandi was mentioned during the first interview, but down played as „just checking work references“. It‘s an over the top, and unnecessary intrusion into my life, I felt. Definitely not something you see in Germany or EU every day. And no word about it on the job advert either.
