Young and dynamic athmosphere, start-up sector, after-work events, the location of the office, modern equipment (though not comfortable enough, not ergonomic).
Too much work, no work-life balance, not enough space for all the employees, tasks were not that interesting, almost only negative input in the CS department from customers/tenants or boat owners which spoilt your day if you didn't have other positive feedbacks or successes (like the sales department when they closed deals).
- offer more and better equipment
- supervisors should always maintain professional attitude and stay calm
- less pressure
- no extra-hours (this was not the case for everybody in every department, but in CustomerService yes)
- do more for environmentally friendly packages etc.
- offer benefits or incentives
in general a friendly, funny and nice atmosphere, however, almost everybody seemed to be stressed and under pressure during work (working their asses off). In the department customer service, the athmosphere was more tense and sometimes not so nice.
In general good, Click&Boat is a very successful and aspiring start-up with an excellent business model, adapted to the present economy and it gets more successful/ bigger every year it seems. Employees who worked or work there have a plus in their CV if they want to stay in the digital business or the yacht charter sector. Click&Boat will be more and more popular in the EU in the next years.
Bad. Daily doing over-hours (unpaid of course), the working schedule was already from 9am to 7pm (with 1 hour break), so you were literally all day long at work, depending on the time you spent on the way to/from work to your home.
For fixed-term employees: no career opportunity or further trainings.
What can I say: minimum wage and daily extra hours on the schedule which were not paid. When all the employees with a fixed-term contract left again, everyone got an induvidual present of the company/department. This was a nice surprise as the supervisors tried to find a personal present for everyone. But this doesn't make up for all the extra hours...
Not very good... too much waste, almost nobody was interested in saving some water or waste, the coffee machines were producing thousands of empty capsules (Nespresso).
No fair trade products. However, as it is a digital start-up, there was a lower usw of copies/paper in general, which is a positive point.
More or less fine. Some colleagues were good friends and got along very well together, but overall the relationships were more loose, it did not seem that many colleagues intended to become closer friends. After work, almost everyone was for him-/herself.
There were only younger collegeagues in the company, so I can't tell anything about the treatment of older colleagues.
I had two supervisors. One was more relaxed or nice under pressure (which means more professional), the other one was rude often..especially under pressure. The two bosses of the company were always nice and maintained a good relationship with employees. They seemed to be interested in their staff, asked how one is doing and listened to your answers and suggestions, too. Both are young (as the entire staff), which had a positive influence on the overall athmosphere in the company. Almost nobody there was older than 40..
Not enough space for all the new staff which worked there during summer (the nr of employees olmost doubled in summer, high season). Chairs and tables were not always comfortable or enabled you to work well. Back pain after some weeks was the result.. the location was great, though: Boulogne Billancourt is a nice and sophisticated quarter of Paris, next to the Seine on a big peniche (= houseboat) with a rooftop terrace we were allowed to use for midday break or after-work parties. This was a big + and outstanding!
Every employee received a payed standard check/examination from a doctor, this is a duty in France the company has to do. The exam was done during working hours and you were excused for that time.
almost always through e-mails and slack (which was more annoying than helpful sometimes with all the messages from different groups, mostly after-work or free-time related messages). In the department of CS, direct communication with colleagues and supervisors mixed with e-mails. Sometimes the communication was not clear enough, sometimes one supervisor was also unfriendly due to stress.
To me, it seemed all fine, women as well as men had the same chances, were treated equally, there were male and many female supervisors, equal communication between genders.
Not very interesting. I will never work in a CS department again, as you handle mostly querries, complaints, problems etc. Lots of negative input every day which doesn't make your work or tasks more attractive or motivating. After a while, you know the procedures and tasks, even if there are always different customers or cases.
