The worst interview ever! An Interview Experience That Made Me Feel Sexist!
Verbesserungsvorschläge
I had an interview with two interviewers, a marketing manager and a general manager, both are males. After my self-introduction, the manager's first question was: please describe your family status?
Me: Me, my husband, and a child.
GM: How old is the child?
Me: 3 years old
GM: No, it's too young. This job requires traveling for exhibitions and you can't do it.
Me: If the job is flexible and the travel is not every month, and my husband and I can deploy, I think it's fine.
GM: It's not fine at all.
I double-checked what skills were needed for the job. The marketing manager pointed to my resume and said, "You have all the skills.
Then 2 male managers started talking about "moms" topic: "We have a lot of moms in our office, with little kids like yours, and they all work part-time." "Do you want to send your child to learn Chinese in the future?" Then they started to analyze which Chinese school is better in this area, as if I had left the house early and spent 4 hours going back and forth, just to consult with the Chinese school, without asking for my expected salary and expected date of availability, and even now I haven't even received a rejection letter.
I felt gender discrimination because I was labeled as a mother (female) and the interview didn't care about my profession.
