Terrible Place to Work
Gut am Arbeitgeber finde ich
Nothing.
Schlecht am Arbeitgeber finde ich
Everything.
Verbesserungsvorschläge
Show interest in the well-being of your employees. Take their opinions into account when making important decisions. If there are not enough staff members in a group, stop filling the group up with children - it's dangerous for everybody involved.
Arbeitsatmosphäre
Extremely high staff turnover. Nobody stays because the working conditions are disastrous. Constant flow of people quitting (most of whom aren't replaced).
No power to make own decisions. Even if a child was very unwell, you were not allowed to send them home without gaining managerial approval. Usually told by management to "keep an eye" on the child to avoid disturbing parents at work. Illnesses spread like wildfire as a result.
Kommunikation
Communication from management was passive aggressive and suggestions/opinions from staff members were not often welcomed. Parents often dissatisfied due to staffing levels which regular staff members must deal with.
Kollegenzusammenhalt
My colleagues were nice but there were not enough of us.
Work-Life-Balance
Very high levels of burnout due to being dangerously understaffed (but treated with suspicion by management whenever you need to call in sick). I left work completely drained everyday and was never able to relax. Regular mandatory in person meetings were held hours after my regular shift had ended. Had to wait around unpaid for the meetings to begin.
Vorgesetztenverhalten
Poor management. Inflexible. A culture of nit-picking. Faults were found no matter how hard staff were working or how understaffed the groups were. Staff members were openly criticised in front of colleagues and children.
Interessante Aufgaben
Not given enough (or any) planning time.
Gleichberechtigung
Not truly bilingual. All meetings held in German. Many emails only sent in German.
Arbeitsbedingungen
Good equipment for children (or anything visible to parents) but staff were left using computers with keyboards that barely worked for well over a year.
Gehalt/Sozialleistungen
Okay pay but doesn't correspond with the fact you must take on the work of numerous people.
Karriere/Weiterbildung
No opportunities for native speakers. Training days were irregular and badly organised.
