Native Speakers Stay Away! Terrible and unfair employer for foreigners
Gut am Arbeitgeber finde ich
Only the teammates and the kids. I left with tears over them and with tears for being treated so coldly and cruelly by management.
Schlecht am Arbeitgeber finde ich
Money over everything. That's the final story about Joki. It's not about your kids, or the employees, quality of work or childcare...it's about money and the Native Speakers bear the brunt of this goal.
Verbesserungsvorschläge
Treat your Native Speakers with dignity. We carry the quality and the caregiver to child rate on our shoulders, while you underpay us. Give a living wage for Munich to your Native Speakers and stop treating them as replaceable. It's a shame and it negatively affects the children.
Arbeitsatmosphäre
The kids and team members are wonderful! The employer only cares about profit. It creates a stressful working environment where the employees are stretched to their limit and unqualified Native Speakers are expected to do the same job as their colleagues for vastly less pay. Turnover is incredible high. It is stressful for all including kids. They are not interested in keeping good employees.
Kommunikation
Almost everything happens in whispers and rumors before anything is made clear to employees. The company tries to get "feedback" with a yearly survey which conveniently avoids any questions that would actually prompt real feedback for change and improvement. Then they pat themselves on the back for "high ratings" and claim that communication and conditions are wonderful based on the results of their manipulative survey.
Kollegenzusammenhalt
The colleagues are one of the only positives of this job. We hang together because it is the only support we get in this job.
Work-Life-Balance
It's hard not to leave work everyday stressed and anxious about the situation. So while you don't take work home per se, you are emotionally drained and stressed on a daily basis.
Vorgesetztenverhalten
Like I said, the employer cares most about profit and this attitude extends to management within each location. Unfortunately, management is looking for the next promotion, so pushes corporate's harsh treatment onto the team members.
Interessante Aufgaben
The work with the kids is wonderful! But the job becomes daunting without proper support.
Gleichberechtigung
Native speakers and foreigners are incredibly underpaid and given fewer opportunities for leadership or development. There is little support for their non-German employees despite their claims.
Umgang mit älteren Kollegen
Any team member I had in my 2 years with Joki over the age of 40 were pushed out within 6 months.
Arbeitsbedingungen
Stressful work environment with little support for employees, especially Native Speakers. Private "Übergabe" with 25 parents everyday is expected even when teams are understaffed, budgets are cut at every corner so that there are few resources for planning really projects for the kids. They even stopped supplying disinfectant wipes because of "costs".
Gehalt/Sozialleistungen
There is no living wage provided for Native Speakers who don't have an education degree. Less than 1900€ netto for native speakers even though they do the exact job of their colleagues. After 2 years of great work for this company (proven with excellent performance reviews), I dared to ask for a 300€ raise (still 1000€ less than my next lowest paid coworker) just so I wouldn't have to use my savings every month to survive. I was offered to have my 50€ bus ticket paid and they offered to help me look for side jobs so I could pay my bills. It's simply unacceptable in a city like Munich and they simply don't care about the financial stress of their Native Speakers. There is a massive turnover rate and they just look forward to the next one without attempting to keep their excellent ones.
Karriere/Weiterbildung
No opportunity for development especially for Native Speakers. If you dare seek a qualification in order to get better pay, they will lower your salary even more to 600€ while you study....even though you are doing the same job as before. They make it financially impossible for you to improve or qualify even though you have the motivation.
