Atmosphere suffers from occasional loud arguments, high turnover, and the secrecy when someone is leaving and you often never hear until the day that happens. Otherwise, the daily working atmosphere is okay.
Kommunikation
Communication about requirements and implementation tends to lean heavily in one direction (downwards). Communication of changes in staff is poor.

Work-Life-Balance
"We work harder than the rest" is the official position. Expect to spend extra hours. On a few occasions, there were also poorly justified denied vacation requests.
Vorgesetztenverhalten
The boss is very demanding both with himself and with others. That may sound fair, but it is more natural to put in 200% effort for the main beneficiary than for a salaried employee. Also it often takes an overwhelming amount of evidence to prove your ideas when they differ from the bosses, to a point that many people give up and either shut up or leave. This trickles down through middle managers as well, because they don't want to get into lengthy arguments too often, either. At least you can be certain your boss is not dumb, and if you can stand the pressure, it will make you stronger.
Interessante Aufgaben
As an engineer, the project is interesting but you don't have as much freedom in decisions as you may expect from other startups. There is also an idea of code ownership, so expect to specialize in a few sections of the project, rather than try a bit of everything.
Umgang mit älteren Kollegen
Senior people are actually treated with the greatest respect here.
Arbeitsbedingungen
Rooms in Berlin are okay; in Hamburg many developers share a big room that has a lot of space, but some people may not like this setting. If you need any improvement to your computer, normally you can just ask and get it quickly.
Gehalt/Sozialleistungen
The salary scale seems fair, and stock options are common.

The company has a poor image because of high turnover and taking too long to release the product. Keep in mind that people complaining online are not necessarily representative of the average.
Karriere/Weiterbildung
The company will pay for events and trainings which you can justify, and for any books you need. Regarding career opportunities, the structure is mostly flat, and senior positions most often require long-time loyalty, so be patient.
