Gut am Arbeitgeber finde ich
When I joined Shopify, the company culture was great. Open communication, supportive, demanding.
Schlecht am Arbeitgeber finde ich
Based on changes in leadership, the company culture started to erode. To my opinion, it is now rooted in mistrust, silent obedience, and fear of being the next one to lose the job. Despite messages which I interpreted that no further layoffs will be done (and despite still growing 25% year-to-year), significant layoffs have been executed which seem to be independent of any kind of performance.
It seems to me that philosophizing about trust batteries, expecting the employee to check in with this idea, and then letting those batteries explode and go up in flames to please investors is bad practice.
Verbesserungsvorschläge
Don't forget that the employees are the ones that brought the company to the top. Return to the company culture from early 2022. Revisit changes in leadership, especially whether these leaders follow the company's rules - e. g. with respect that everyone is expected to work (predominantly) in a country where Shopify has a legal entity.
