Translation agency with major communication problems
Arbeitsatmosphäre
In this translation agency there is a tendency not to trust its employees, despite often being told otherwise. This is why some team leaders feel entitled to micromanage their teams and when an employee expresses dissatisfaction or a problem, they are not properly listened to or believed.
Kommunikation
Important decisions are made by superiors and the opinions of employees are not taken into account.
Kollegenzusammenhalt
Of course there are colleagues with whom it is nice to have a coffee or lunch break. However, there is a great tendency to badmouth each other, to distrust each other's work and expertise. This creates a heavy and tense working environment.
Work-Life-Balance
There are very busy working days when overtime is required to get the job done. However, overtime can easily be compensated with free time. The main problem is not the job stress or the sporadic overtime, but rather the bad atmosphere in the office. Besides those who prefer to work from home, even if they do a great job, are not considered as worthwhile as those who go to the office several times a week.
Vorgesetztenverhalten
Unfortunately, team leaders and supervisors tend not to listen to their employees. It has happened several times that those who show dissent are criticised harshly, sometimes even with bad performance reviews or references. There is no openness to dialogue or to finding good solutions for all: the goal is money saving. This is why, unfortunately, people who have been with the company for years are promoted even if they do not have the skills to take on managerial or team management roles.
Interessante Aufgaben
Interesting translations. But mostly assigned to the bosses' pupils.
Gleichberechtigung
Gender equality. However, those who have been working longer in the company are preferred on everything. Too much value is placed on years of service instead of actual skills.
Umgang mit älteren Kollegen
Some colleagues are nice. Unfortunately, however, there is no open-mindedness in the company. Older colleagues feel entitled to take the best jobs or to be promoted solely because they have been with the company for more than two years. If a person with 10 years of experience elsewhere is hired, he or she will still be regarded as a newcomer in some teams.
Arbeitsbedingungen
Communication in the company is not transparent, which makes working conditions very difficult.
Umwelt-/Sozialbewusstsein
There is no interest in social or environmental issues.
Gehalt/Sozialleistungen
Salaries are more or less the same as other companies in this sector, but there are no benefits. Increases are seldom granted and therefore the salary does not keep up with inflation.
Image
Although many employees are not happy, from the outside the company leaves a good impression.
Karriere/Weiterbildung
People who have worked in the company for a long time are promoted, even if they have not acquired the skills to take on more responsibility roles. This necessarily implies discontent, mistakes, constant turnover and poor stability.
