Family owned business - but not in a good way

Gut am Arbeitgeber finde ich

You can get to know a lot about the translation industry and internationally working companies as tsd has quiet a few interesting customers worldwide. They do pay you on time and you can reduce your overtime or take vacation quiet flexibly.

Schlecht am Arbeitgeber finde ich

As mentioned above the it stands and falls with magagement; and if it remains so hierarchical and inflexible, not much will improve.

Verbesserungsvorschläge

Family disputes should not influence the mood and decisions so much. Also it would help to know the names of the employees, some of whom have been part of the company for a long time, and to value their work. This is especially true for the teams of translators, without whom the entire company could not exist. In addition, it could not hurt to adhere to the German employee law (§ 622 Abs. 3 BGB) and to pay people a little fairer.

Arbeitsatmosphäre

The atmosphere between colleagues is okay, strongly depends on the team/ department though. Management does not appreciate let alone praise their employees or their work. If something bad happens on the other hand- it is surely talked about with a lot of concern and emphasis.

Kommunikation

They are trying to improve internal communication. Within the teams and also between departments it works quiet well: information is mostly passed on in time and workshops and induction trainings are held. The problem lies more with the management which does not read e-mails at all (owner) or simply responds very late (CCO).

Kollegenzusammenhalt

I have come to the conclusion that Management's behaviour hinders rather than promotes an open, honest and personal exchange between employees and teams. At least people tend to find each other through a common aversion to management.

Work-Life-Balance

Its fairly easy to take vacation or reduce overtime hours - big plus!

Vorgesetztenverhalten

The support of a buddy is formally given, but can only be used to a limited extent if this person is under great stress. Otherwise, no one from the management really cares whether you are well or whether you are settling in okay.
Their expectations are not really well communicated. Feedback talks are not held regularly, and if then often unannounced and according to the personal moods. Nobody can really prepre themselfes that way.
Legal requirements are not always observed and, for example, trial periods are illegally extended by the owner.

Work can be fun but stressful since you learn a lot within a short period of time!

Gleichberechtigung

I had the feeling that men were treated a little preferentially by the female bosses. There are generally more (young) women working in the company, which is not surprising when you look at how bad the wages and career opportunities are.

Umgang mit älteren Kollegen

ok, I guess. There are not many of them since people leave the company after a few years.

Arbeitsbedingungen

Offices are okay: all quite bright and modern. There is coffee and water and some fruit for the employees.
If you need technical help, someone will be there immediately.

Gehalt/Sozialleistungen

What can I say...Minimun wage (with a masters degree).
Bonuses aparentely exist, but nobody really knows whether the measurement is fair and comprehensible. The figures on the basis of which the bonuses are calculated were disclosed this year for the first time. The problem that remains: Employees in project management can influence these figures only minimally, because they depend on factors they do not have a say in (e.g. who cares for which customers or departments).

Employees do not promote the company and the management much internally. Customers are mainly very pleased with the good work though.
