Having a vision and a clean direction for the company. Numbers are transparent and I happy to work in such a nice team. Motivated people who really care about the product and want to make the world a better place.
To be honest, some things could be improved but over all it's a really good place to be for me and to develop myself.
Upgrade the office with some colors on walls.
I know my goals and have the freedom to do it and be creative. That makes it much easier and more fun to work. The team is working on achieving the milestones together and after nearly 5 years of ZenMate, it's not a chaotic startup anymore but more efficient. I like the people here and we have lunch together and sometimes beer after work.
ZenMate and the vision is cool and it feels meaningful to me. And we are an international team with people from Russia or Turkey where a VPN really makes a difference. They are so motivated to work at ZenMate. We should talk about it better and tell it the world outside.
They provide some budget, books, and leave to learn and go to conference. They have internal training sessions and happy codings days. Mindset of Growth is important for us. But a better structure for that, more ideas and something not focused on hard skills would be cool.
Management team is really supportive and reachable. They care about my opinion and a got more responsibilities over the last months. Sometimes, I wish more mentoring when it comes to soft skills.
It's an open office and in the beginning it was different for me. But it's nice that teams are not separated from each other. I have the hardware I want to have. There is a big full equipped kitchen.
Compared with others companies ZenMate is really transparent and don't hide data. The bi-weekly All-Hands meeting includes company-wise and department-wise updates. But with less than 40 people very nice people you understand easily who is working on which project and if they need support.
I guess, the salary is in the market average. ZenMate provides the typical startup benefits. But want makes a different is that they support you in emergency or if you plan a longer trip.
No preferential treatment for hierarchy / level / gender / age, ...
I like my job and understand how I support the company goals. The team is not so big that means we can't share the more administrative work with more people. A bit more time for strategic topics would be cool.
The topic of internet security is more important than ever. Working in that business has a lot of challenges and getting the feedback of the users that can access with the ZenMate VPN solution services that they could normally not use is really motivating.
Sometimes there is a lack of transparency in regards to strategy or strategic decisions. Some of these decisions should be communicated more in advance.
