Weird feeling when you walk in the mostly empty office. Since the last re-org in August most people seemingly have lost faith in the company and only do what is necessary anymore.
Since the shift to mostly defense and intelligence and the abundance of re-orgs, most people you ask won't tell you that the are proud to work for Balckshark. That used to be quite different.
This was always great and still is. No working on weekends and no need for lots of over hours, very flexible and family friendly.
Ok if you compare it in Graz. But they could pay more given that the company is competing on a global scale and is moving towards mostly defense and intelligence use cases.
This is not a real topic in the company.
Used to be great, but so many experienced and nice people left in the last twelve months. Nowadays people are keeping their head down and are mostly looking out for themselves.
You can't trust the c-level anymore. They are mostly busy with re-organizing the company every three months and finding new names for things we are working on since years. You can provide feedback but usually doesn't change anything, very frustrating.
Middle management is a handful of nice people that try to keep the ship afloat.
Nice new office in the city center, well equipped.
Company is now organized in two silos with almost no communication between them. Leadership is presenting their version of the truth once per month, don't seem to care about what people say anymore.
Tech is very interesting!!
The company has some exceptional employees, who strive to keep the boat floating/
Decisions seemed to be made haphazardly, often with little consideration for their impact on employees. Communication from leadership was inconsistent, and there was a general disconnect between upper management and the rest of the workforce.
Needs Better Management, Better Communication, Better Culture.
Read the negatives amd work from there.
The company's culture was toxic, to say the least. It was marked by favoritism, office politics, and a complete lack of transparency. It felt like the management team was more interested in their own personal interests than the well-being of their employees.
Job security was non-existent at Blackshark.ai. The frequent layoffs and restructurings created an atmosphere of perpetual fear and uncertainty. It felt like walking on eggshells every day, never knowing when the next round of layoffs would hit. This instability made it difficult to plan for the future and caused constant stress among employees.
The only benefit they have is a 500 Euro allowance (which seems promising but is not and is not entirely transparant until you try to claim it.) They give a lot of false promises that they will include more benefits in the future which is absurd. If you're an experienced engineer you'll have much better options elsewhere.
The only saving grace during my tenure at Blackshark was the presence of some truly exceptional colleagues. I was fortunate to work alongside talented and dedicated individuals who were not only proficient at their jobs but also willing to lend a helping hand. Our camaraderie and teamwork were the bright spots in an otherwise bleak environment.
The management at Blackshark left much to be desired. They were disconnected from the concerns of their employees and seemed more interested in cost-cutting measures than in nurturing a healthy work environment. Their decisions often seemed arbitrary and poorly thought out, leading to further frustration and disillusionment among the staff.
Communication within the company was virtually non-existent. Important decisions were made behind closed doors, and employees were left in the dark about the company's direction. There was no sense of camaraderie or teamwork, which made working there a lonely and demoralizing experience.
Great work-life balance, helpful colleagues.
Communication skills of management, and HR no reacting to violent/bad communication. Hiring strategy
If you want to monitor performance of developers, you also have to monitor performance of their Leads. It‘s hard to perform well, when you also have to do the job of others.
Very little feedback is given. Some decisions are being made „secretly“, which in the past have created a lot of unease within the teams.
No overtime, no all-in, and you have to use up your vacation. Very flexible regarding home office! HR is very engaged in promoting work-life balance
They do have some career development plans, but they seem to be slightly out of touch with what personal development in IT looks like. Also, I have seen them hire people for certain positions, and end up using them for task not according to their skillset
Really good. Hardly any single-players here within teams, and in-between teams.
Non-existing problem solving skills (e.g. public fighting in company-wide meetings). Lots of manipulation and politics. C-Level Management blaming developers for goals not met, and fully ignores missing tech, communication and management skills of mid-level management.
Typical for startups, you can tell that at one point the company grew rapidly, and mid-level management was hired after internal availability, and not for skillset.
New, tube-like open-space office, which can be very noisy, and lots of people walking by. Lunch area is too small. But overall modern, and okay
Company provides modern hardware.
Not great, not terrible. Company-wide meetings inform transparently about business-decisions. For my personal liking, there‘s a little too much „we are one team, we are awesome“-talk, which is always preached, but not lived.
Okay-ish, people don‘t work here for the money.

Team, atmosphere, company culture
nothing in particular
Better every-day equipment would go a long way; a more solidified and polished CI would improve how the company is perceived from the outside
Professional but relaxed atmosphere, great team spirit all around
Company is still in the process of defining and solidifying their image
Flexible work time and self-responsibility
For this you have to be proactive and committed, learning and career advancement are not being spoon-fed, but opportunities are granted to everyone who pursues them, afaik
Best team I ever worked with, personally and professionally
Average age is rising a little bit only recently, but also here opportunities are equal, interactions are relaxed and respectful
Mostly very good, but even managers can still learn
Some equipment could be better, new office space is being worked on
Due to current rapid growth, communication can get chaotic at times, but it's nothing the team can't manage
Equal opportunities all around, respectful but relaxed interactions between all team members are a given
As far as the field allows
interesting technology, awesome colleagues, fun environment, great work-life balance
nothing is particularly "bad"
better office space (worked on), more benefits & competitive salary, drive career development
super fun & friendly environment
branding could need some work, people in the industry know about blackshark.ai but outside of it, not that known
flexible working hours, remote options, could be more supportive of home/mobile work sometimes & not only during covid, no crunch time
since the company is growing rapidly, new (lead) positions are available frequently, but career development does not really get driven forward actively by team lead or HR
salary is okay, definitely not the reason to join, some benefits (yoga, fruits, gym membership add payment, ..) but both could be more/better
cant really tell, waste separation and that's about it
can rely on them anytime
not many older colleagues due to industry
great, as far as i can tell
office needs an upgrade (currently in the working), equipment could be better
good channels, regular meetings, but sometimes a bit confusing if someone on my team really got notified about a topic
lots of women in leading positions but could need some more in the dev side
probably depends on the department & team, but the technology and product are something unique
