Hilti Lanzenkirchen: small site with lots of flexibility houses corporate functions with large responsibilities
Gut am Arbeitgeber finde ich
Hilti is still majority-owned by the family, and more interested in long-term success. Compared to other corporations, Hilti doesn't make reckless decisions for the sake of quarterly growth and shareholder satisfaction.
Kommunikation
Business updates from all sorts of Hilti functions are regularly provided and available to everyone. There's enough transparency on what and how the company is doing, and why some decisions are made.
Kollegenzusammenhalt
The Lanzenkirchen site is split between two very distrinct business areas that don't interact much and don't have a strong emotional bond or feeling of togetherness. But communication is always open and everyone can be themselves.
Work-Life-Balance
Flexible home office opportunities based on trust. As long as the work gets done, it's also not strictly monitored whether someone is there during "core working hours", so they can take care of private needs. Overtime is expected when business is strong, but reducing it is also encouraged.
Interessante Aufgaben
The company is regularly undergoing strategic improvements, changes, restructurings; people are developed into different positions - so tasks will always remain interesting. Employees are expected to be open to and drive change and improvement.
Gleichberechtigung
Lots of well-deserving women in management positions. Some male-dominated departments need to be challenged more on how they talk over women in meetings.
Umgang mit älteren Kollegen
Ageism might become an issue at some point, although right now the site is comparatively young on average.
Arbeitsbedingungen
Great clean and modern office environment, modern meeting rooms and silent boxes, good IT equipment, despite the age of the office.
Umwelt-/Sozialbewusstsein
Strong ramp-up of sustainability initiatives, but so far no business sacrifices have been made for the sake of sustainability. Lots of international employees also understandably move to Vienna, 60km from Lanzenkirchen, and the car is often the only viable option to get to the office.
Gehalt/Sozialleistungen
The Lanzenkirchen site houses corporate Hilti functions, but employees who have the same jobs at the global Hilti headquarters are paid significantly more for the same position, which causes some frustration.
Image
Everyone can proudly share that they work or have worked for Hilti.
Karriere/Weiterbildung
The employee development process is taken very seriously by all departments. Sadly due to the remote location of the Lanzenkirchen site, some talents are not as visible as they would be if they worked at the global headquarters. Many internal hiring decisions are still only possible because "someone knew the right person", not because talents are globally visible.
