As mentioned previously (Best flexibility, strong team spirit, motivation to improve, fair and equal treatment)
There are no major issues, but like any workplace, there's always room for improvement. However, the positive aspects far surpass any drawbacks.
As mentioned previously (Improve communication, have women in management positions, improve management styles)
Overall, the atmosphere is good, though there are some areas that could use improvement. Everyone is helpful and cares for each other. You could really feel the team energy at our Summer party - it was awesome!
Good Image
Awesome!!! Compared to other companies out there Pimcore truly takes flexibility and work-life balance to another level (especially when having kids).
You can use your individual budget for any type of development, offering good flexibility to shape your own path. It would be helpful for me to have a clearer roadmap within my role, outlining possible career paths and opportunities for advancement.
Above average and additional benefits
There are a few initiatives that many aren't aware of because they don't make a big deal out of it.
As mentioned, the team spirit is great. Everyone helps each other, and we have fun together. Management could use some improvement but they definitely care. Sure, there are some people who like to see everything pessimistically and negative, but for some, the cup is always half empty than half full...
This is no issue.
This is an area that definitely needs improvement. For me team dissatisfaction seems to be influenced by certain management practices in the team, which can affect the overall morale. However, there is motivation to address and improve these situations.
Great. Nothing to complain about. I even get a homeoffice compensation
Communication has always potential for improvement. I have experienced very good communication so far. Most information is communicated and all the basics are written on Confluence pages. Continuous improvement is the key here.
Everyone is treated fair and without discrimination and there are great opportunities available. However, it is a bit disappointing that there is a lack of female managers.
Nothing to complain about
Have already mentioned it in the other points earlier.
I personally don't find anything bad. There are things that need to be worked on, as mentioned above, and Pimcore is strongly committed to addressing them. That is more than enough for me. Where there's a will, there's a way.
Have already mentioned it in the other points earlier.
You can work well with all colleagues. Everyone is friendly and helpful. Due to strategic decisions and layoffs at the end of last year, there was a slightly subdued atmosphere for a few months, but it has significantly improved since the last event. The direction is the right one.
The company's image is excellent—modern with a strong mission and vision.
It doesn't get any better. I've never experienced this with any other employer like I have at Pimcore.
Is supported by the company. Everyone has an individual budget for it each year. This should be integrated into the growth talks to further encourage the use of this individual budget.
Absolutely in line with the market. Nothing negative to say about it.
To my knowledge, green energy is used. The company is socially engaged without making a big fuss about it.
The colleagues and the sense of camaraderie here are truly exceptional. There is a strong effort to create a family-like atmosphere. I feel completely at ease.
This issue does not exist at Pimcore. Everyone is treated equally.
The supervisors at Pimcore are generally good people who work on themselves to improve, which is extremely rare in other companies. Everyone is fundamentally decent and understanding. At Pimcore, everyone strives to improve daily, and the supervisors lead by example.
The working conditions are wonderful. The office in Salzburg is nice and modern, and the home office setup and equipment are perfect for getting work done. All in all, it’s great.
Regarding communication, the weaknesses have been recognized, and there is a strong effort to improve in this area. Keep it up.
This issue does not exist at Pimcore. Everyone is treated equally.
The company is gradually evolving from a startup to a well-established business. There is always work to be done here. I enjoy it a lot.
- flexible work time with no core hours
- home office
- team events
- benefits if provided
A noticeable deficiency in communication has led to widespread frustration and confusion across various aspects of work life. The current management approach appears ineffective, with apparent absence of strategic planning. Employees express feeling unduly criticized for inadequate output, with management overlooking internal factors and solely attributing shortcomings to teams. Despite multiple meetings convened to address these concerns, no tangible actions have been taken.
Instead of organizing numerous unproductive meetings and discussions, take decisive action. Ample feedback has already been provided.
If you intend to hire experts, collaborate with them effectively rather than simply assigning tasks. Cease the constant micromanagement.
Improve communication significantly. Clearly communicate any changes and the reasons behind them, regardless of what they are. This is far preferable to offering excuses that can easily be exposed as false.
Provide employees with incentives and opportunities for career growth and advancement, as promised a long time ago.
For some time now, the atmosphere has been deteriorating significantly. The frustration with the current situation is evident among all team members.
Home office, no core hours
The company offers workshops for developers aimed at enhancing understanding and overall coding quality. However, due to the current management strategy, it has become increasingly frustrating to be unable to implement these learnings in practice.
Furthermore, there are currently no opportunities for career advancement in any direction. Promotions are typically given only when hiring new colleagues, suggesting that the internal knowledge and experience of the existing team are not valued.
Salaries are consistently paid on time and align with industry standards. The company offers excellent additional benefits, such as the Klimaticket, lunch contributions, and an additional day off each year and others.
However, these benefits sometimes come with conditions. Due to a lack of clear communication about these requirements, there may be instances where benefits are revoked unexpectedly.
No specific actions taken
Teamwork within and across teams is excellent, characterized by a culture of mutual support and collaboration.
Nevertheless, interactions with certain colleagues can present challenges, leading to feelings of being scrutinized or questioned.
There is a prevalent issue of strong micromanagement within the company. Although the company emphasizes hiring experts, their opinions and ideas are often disregarded and discouraged. Recently, there has been an increasing emphasis on speed over thoughtful execution, yet employees are still expected to take full responsibility for their work despite having little control over it. This creates a no-win situation for employees, undermining their ability to perform effectively.
- HQ is nice
- Work equipment is really good and up to date
The quality of communication has significantly declined. Numerous decisions are merely announced without considering the input and ideas of the team(s), leading to a sense of disregard and neglect. Additionally, there appears to be a disconnect in the management's ability to effectively communicate their strategy, goals, and vision, further exacerbating the frustration among team members. There are instances where it feels like team members are being unjustly blamed for issues that were never communicated to them initially, contributing to an atmosphere of confusion and discontent.
There is a noticeable lack of diversification in the company, as management and Vice President positions are predominantly held by male colleagues.
There are numerous interesting tasks available. However, with the current workflow, everything becomes increasingly frustrating, causing any initial excitement to dissipate quickly.
- No core working hours (therefore a lot of flexibility)
- Home office most of the time
The company suffers from significant communication issues, with top management overly involved in decision-making, hindering other roles from performing effectively. Developers' opinions are largely ignored, and tasks are estimated without their input, leading to poor planning. Attempts to implement Scrum were abandoned due to perceived low output. While internal team meetings are productive, broader meetings are often unproductive. Despite discussions about these issues, no improvements have been made, and the situation remains unchanged
It is frustrating how Pimcore has all the foundations to be a great company and employer, but the lack of communication, social skills, and trust in their own developers and their opinions negates most of the positive aspects
Fine within the team(s), but as soon as others are involved it tends to get anticlimactic
No core hours, home office possibilities
There is a workshop for developers once a week, where things related to programming are discussed (with the help of external people).
But right now there is no way to get promoted.
Salary is fine and always on time
Not that I know of
Again, withing the teams it is fine. But when others are involved it often feels like you have to defend yourself.
- HQ is pretty nice and has everything you would want it to have and even more
- Notebooks, monitors and other equipment are perfectly fine
Same goes for communication
Vice Presidents and managing directors consist of mostly male colleagues
Tasks can be interesting (AI, index based search, ...)
If you get the benefits they are awesome.
This is mostly a summary of the above points.
- Horrendous communication.
- Ineffective meetings
- The very obvious lack of planning
- Not listening to your employees
- Constantly changes in the process, which make the lack of planning a lot worse
To make things worse you then get constantly told, that you are too slow.
This kind of feedback is incredibly demotivating for employees.
If you want to discourage your employees, this is the best way to do so.
It's well-known that motivated employees tend to be more productive, yet it appears that this perspective isn't being acknowledged by management.
We had a lot of meetings with management the last few months and nothing changed since then. Talking alone is not enough. If your employees come to you, telling you why they are not happy, you need to listen and act upon it.
Not acting after such meetings, there is a high possibility that employees start to leave and currently this company especially the Development Team is a ticking time bomb.
Now would be the time to start listening to your employees. A successful business can only grow with their employees.
- Start communicating openly with the employees.
- Start trusting your employees, you hired them for a reason
- Stop the constant micromanagement. Do not constantly interfere in the day to day work with your experts. Lead the way instead of controlling every detail to the last step.
- Management needs to get training asap.
- Make sure you are doing what your job description says, especially higher positions that are not involved in the day to day business.
Since November 2023, there has been a noticeable decline in morale. You can sense the atmosphere deteriorating with each larger meeting.
Marketing is effectively projecting a positive image externally, but internally, particularly within the Dev-Community, there's a different narrative.
Work-life balance would be great, but there's a catch. If you are constantly told that you are slow, the mood drops even further.
The issue lies less in the absence of education and more in the challenge of integrating newly acquired knowledge into current tasks. As the title suggests, there's an emphasis on quantity over quality.
The code quality clearly reflects the company's roots in an agency environment. Instead of focusing on quality, since it is a product and not a project, the main goal is output, regardless of the consequences.
In recent months, navigating the hiring process has posed challenges in terms of career advancement, particularly as internal promotions seem discouraged. The term "nepotism" may even come to mind, reflecting the frustrations experienced.
While the company has the potential to excel with consistent benefits, the current situation leaves something to be desired. Despite promises of collective agreement raises for all, it appears that there has been a discrepancy between expectations and reality. Clarity and follow-through on commitments are essential for fostering a positive work environment, and addressing this issue transparently could greatly enhance employee satisfaction and trust in the company's leadership.
While management frequently travels by plane and car, employees are encouraged to utilize train travel with the benefit "Klimaticket". However, there have been instances where the benefit has been unexpectedly revoked without prior notice, particularly for employees who haven't been regularly present at the headquarters. This situation contrasts with the benefit being initially praised.
The only reason people are still here is because colleagues support each other at every level.
The workplace fosters a very open culture where everyone is treated with the respect they deserve.
Micromanagement is pervasive. If you are hired as an expert in your field, don't expect your opinion to be valued. Management calls the shots, despite many colleagues warning about future outcomes and problems. This often leads to very unpleasant situations, and employees are the ones who have to fix the issues, even though they had already warned management many times beforehand.
Equipment is good and up to date. HQ in Salzburg is good too.
Communication is at an all-time low. Many decisions are made behind the scenes. While they talk about transparency, their actions often contradict this claim.
Management frequently assumes that "It's documented in Confluence" is sufficient. However, complex topics like the collective agreement require much more thorough explanation.
Additionally, changes in Confluence are not communicated, forcing individuals to constantly scan for updates themselves.
The development team is male-dominated, with only one female employee remaining since three were fired in November.
What is most painful is that the topics and field of work are genuinely interesting, and the team could achieve great things together. However, we are often overruled by management, which causes us to lose a lot of time. This, in turn, leads to the recurring issue of being asked, "Why are you slow?"
flexible hours :)
the fact that when they had to fire people (which it happens, it's a business we all understand that), they deceived 10 people, all expats, that it's "review" time. They asked us to go to a hotel, where we're going to have the annual "review" (which some already had, not very good deceivers). Keep in mind that this was orchestrated so that we don't know that this is going to happen to others as well, from your POV you would have to go to a hotel to do YOUR review. Being friends with most of the employees which were nice normal people, we already knew that something is up, but not all of us suspected this. At the end of the day we were fired, had to give the equipment and move on with our lives. I worked there almost 3 years, never had a proper chance to say goodbye to my friends and colleagues. Terrible experience. I don't recommend.
- hire people in management with empathy
- hire women in management
- stop lying to your employees
- way too many management people per production people
- focus on quality
you can be insultate
backstabbers
fair
the fire you before you get the support to improve yourself
fair
nothing
as long as they're not management
highly protecting status-quo
micromanagement, they lie to your face
fighting the windmills
they say something and do something else
expats were fired first
status-quo is protected
Junges Team, arbeitet eng miteinander
Very friendly, the English language only jobs possible, when working remotely all the equipment is sent over.
Very cool, there are deadlines to be met but no one is watching over your shoulder, no late meetings, etc.
I would say above average
Possibility to talk to everyone about any kind of issue.
So verdient kununu Geld.
