THE FSTC MANAGEMENT MAKES COLLEAGUES WRITE POSITIVE REVIEWS

Fancy office in DC tower, colleagues drinking in the kitchen every second day. You will meet smart people. Business trips to Milan. Team breakfast every month. Good place for the CV or if you don't speak German and cannot find anything else in Austria

THE FSTC MANAGEMENT MAKES COLLEAGUES WRITE POSITIVE REVIEWS

Stay away from Financial services technology consulting (FSTC) and if you want it for the CV be warned: most of the projects are for one bank, they try to get any staffing possible even if it brings no value. Sometimes for free with no billable hours. tasks are very boring (at all the levels), juniors/fresh associates are underpaid, overworked and the partner sells them like experts for a high rate. Senior associates are treated like managers in other Big4s (sell, sell, sell) and have to find projects themselves. Given the absurdity of the tasks and/or competence level mismatch, clients are upset because they expect better service for the price paid and don't see the value in an extra person copypast-ing word docs or making slides and being sold as a business analyst. Some projects are sold for free, especially for juniors (so you can work 60 hours a week for 2 months, not being able to bill anything). When client is unhappy, coach / manager has a whole discussion with you about not pushing harder, not being proactive and not drinking with the client to get close to them.

Looooots of nepo hires.
Countless client events and parties until midnight you’ll have to be at (non-billable of course). Young female employees (JA/A) get invited to the client parties like a decor (they don’t work for these clients). One client harassed multiple female employees at a party, people saw what was going on and reported to the partner of FSTC, but nothing was done. Management emphasizes the importance of these events, so if you want to get promoted from JA to A you’re encouraged to do it. A lot of brainwashing in general. If you’re under 25, they know which buttons to press.

No paid trainings (in FSTC). Unless the department needs to reach a goal number of completed certifications (Palantir, Scrum) you won't get it approved. No sponsored non-PWC conferences abroad. No home office if you are not fully utilized. Extreme competition between the colleagues and gossipy groups. There is a cohort of women who are more to the management than just colleagues, who get intransparent fast track promotions, invitations to private PWC events, and appear on all LinkedIn marketing pictures. Partner of TC regularly organizes PWC events with limited spots and magically it’s always the same group of women getting the spot. there will be always the inner circle and everyone else

P.S. The department is very cheap so at the mandatory team building events you share a room with 2 double beds between 4 coworkers and pay for stay. Drinks are for free though.

P.P.S. Same as in consulting in general - lay-offs and promotions on hold (also for JA). Don’t expect to grow unless you bring a client.
