RBI is a decent employer
Gut am Arbeitgeber finde ich
Work-life balance, interesting business, decent remuneration
Schlecht am Arbeitgeber finde ich
Openness of communication within the company can be improved
Arbeitsatmosphäre
As far as I hear there are rather rare cases when people suffer from the atmosphere in their department. It is clear that in a company which employs several thousand persons there might be very different personalities and, consequently, different mood across various units, however in general during my 10+ years in RBI I heard rather positive feedback from colleagues working in different teams.
Kommunikation
Communication is very much influenced by Austrian way of interaction when avoiding direct confrontation is frequently a key strategy. For foreigners it might create an impression that there's constantly some hidden agenda when you are missing honest feedback or have a feeling that in one or another situation bringing arguments by your colleagues could be more direct. After some years the set up becomes more understandable, even though one might still wish to have a more straightforward communication
Kollegenzusammenhalt
Various departments have different culture in terms of spending time together outside of working hours, but in the office people are normally very helpful to each other (especially the younger generations).
Work-Life-Balance
RBI provides excellent possibilities to manage your time. Yes, we all have sometimes a flood of tasks, but it does not mean that there are no periods of normal workload - if you combine it with very flexible office / home-office requirements, all in all the employees can achieve a really well-balanced life. Planning of vacations in my department is absolutely fine, never heard of any conflicts in this respect.
Interessante Aufgaben
There is some room for improvement in terms of how tasks are distributed and, equally important, how well other departments understand it. It might happen that one team takes more responsibility and more complex tasks compared to others, while there's lack of appreciation about this from the organization. Within the teams tasks are split rather evenly
Gleichberechtigung
Not much to say here - RBI is a pretty modern company in this respect, I never heard about any deliberately discriminatory activities or practices which would be part of company's culture (again - when you have a couple of thousand employees one or another might have some specific views, but the company's culture in general is very comfortable). Yes, Board composition includes only 1 female, but otherwise many managerial positions are occupied by female colleagues. If one visits any bankers' meeting of a large corporate or a banking / industrial conference in Europe and checks the male/female split, RBI would look pretty well compared to the usual ratio. Promotion of non-Austrian employees is very different from one department to another, depending on the mindset of the manager.
Arbeitsbedingungen
Main building is a bit old, but the equipment is new and in general the offices are nice to work at. Recently saw that new employees get new equipment and get connected to necessary apps / get accesses very quickly (this has significantly improved over the last years)
Umwelt-/Sozialbewusstsein
RBI is in the same league as other European banks and the ESG policies are very similar. There are pretty strong internal ESG experts who get involved in the respective matters during decision making process.
Gehalt/Sozialleistungen
Seems like salaries are in line with the market or slightly higher than Austrian competitor-banks. Employee benefits from staff council are unbeatable!
Karriere/Weiterbildung
If you are ambitious, get ready to wait for quite a while to get promoted. RBI is probably not a company to make a sky rocketing career in a matter of couple of years.
