Arbeitsatmosphäre
the mckinsey background of the founding team is clearly visible and influences the culture a lot in a negative way. people coming from a consulting background are regarded as of higher importance and thus given more responsibility and credibility without ever needing to prove themselves. most of them are just great at delegating work but do not understand what the market actually requires.
overarching strategies are continuously changing which makes it hard and energy-draining to set up a plan to work along.
even though it‘s a young company that should have a startup mentality, there are lots of silos, especially between the markets. In addition, market leaders are granted a lot of influence which especially makes it hard to work in a global role (e.g. product or marketing), as you‘re required to fulfill a wide range of different needs. Lastly, hierarchies are unfortunately a big thing at oviva.
Kommunikation
the communication is insanely intransparent. changes inside a team (e.g. people being let go) are not communicated for months, even if it concerns the team you’re part of.
the decision to let people go is taken on a very ad-hoc basis with a very ad-hoc group of people. worst of all is, that core decision makers like the team lead are not included in the whole process and thus, just required to accept the decision as it has been taken.
Work-Life-Balance
the workload is immense and you are required to work a lot without ever being thanked, let alone compensated for. many people work until 10, 11 or 12 pm or longer and, certainly, always on weekends. and you’re low key expected to do the same thing.
it is NEVER enough! even when you reach great things you are interrogated why you didn‘t reach more. empathy is something that has never been lived at oviva.
Vorgesetztenverhalten
last but not least, some of the management team do not know their boundaries and don’t shy away from heavily flirting with, especially, female employees which is highly inappropriate. e.g. i was hit on by a member of the executive team.
some of the managers show narcissistic behavior.
