Promotion Cycle is unfortunately a joke, so is team spirit!

Gut am Arbeitgeber finde ich

Image still alright, you can learn if you want

Schlecht am Arbeitgeber finde ich

Points above.

Verbesserungsvorschläge

Treat employees as humans, negotiate minimum project fees to ensure nobody has to work for nothing, monitor people's health (I know countless of people who left the company due to burnout symptoms).

Arbeitsatmosphäre

Working atmosphere quite bad, at least in Financial Advisory. Everybody sits in front of their Laptop's ignoring each other, occasional small talk to appear human, nobody likes each other. People spend their lunch breaks on Toilets to avoid each other. Very sad.

Kommunikation

Communication from the board OK - but usual phrases. Feels fake but it's the same in any other company. Communication to Managers really depends on the person you are working with. Good Managers tend to leave the company as there are better opportunities elsewhere.

Kollegenzusammenhalt

Very little. People want to stand out in front of the Partner, they will put a knife in your back if needed. Never experienced such behaviour and I worked in Finance for most of my entire life.

Work-Life-Balance

Well, it's bad because projects are heavily understaffed. You are not allowed to write all of your working hours on your time sheet because it would make the (badly negotiated) budget explode. This is just not the right way forward. Personally, I understand that our service is substitutable by other Big4's but come on, we don't have to sell ourselves below market value to get projects.

Vorgesetztenverhalten

From the outside everybody is nice obviously, but lot's of gossip...

Interessante Aufgaben

You can shape your career as you wish to. So find yourself interesting tasks if possible.

Umgang mit älteren Kollegen

Can't say much to this as I'm in my mid-30s, which is the average at PwC I would say.

Arbeitsbedingungen

Countless long nights (1-3am). Was asked to turn off my Teams Status so nobody sees that I'm working that late.

Umwelt-/Sozialbewusstsein

Everybody talks about ESG, nobody practices ESG - but nothing new, nearly the same in every company you go.

Gehalt/Sozialleistungen

Honestly, I have friends at other Big4 who earn more. There have been budget cuts and PwC hires below market standards. Deloitte and Co. most likely to follow soon.

Image

Image still good, especially in Switzerland. But mostly for "Boomers" and Gen X. I am not sure if it's worth to work at a Big4 if you come straight out of Uni nowadays. There are better options with more interesting work and higher salary.

Karriere/Weiterbildung

Quite a lot of Educational options including events etc. I liked that!

Thank you for you taking the time to leave this review on Kununu. Although you seem to have had several positive experiences during your time with us, e.g., learning and development opportunities and interesting tasks, I’ve also read your negative experiences here. I’m sorry to hear that this has been the case and I’d be very keen to discuss the details with you personally. Please reach out to me via email under Martina.Bender@pwc.ch.

I’d like to address the following points beforehand:

Compensation: Our total rewards approach includes our salaries which are performance- and market-oriented, based on qualifications and experience, and reviewed and adjusted annually within the framework of our performance management and compensation cycle. Through our annual working time model, employees are also able to compensate their overtime and outstanding performance is recognised with additional bonuses. We also offer a comprehensive benefits package structured around your Care and Wellbeing, Flexible work, Vacation and leave, Growth and Development, Workplace and Technology and additional perks.

Workload/ Work-Life Balance: At PwC we have a clear policy that all employees must accurately record their working hours, which means that all hours worked must be submitted. Even though there might be instances where project demands create pressure on the billable hours, we are actively seeking to ensure these standards are adhered to. Furthermore, we have flexible working hours with an annual working time model, allowing employees to take time off for overtime which was accumulated during peak periods. We are committed to supporting our employees’ work-life balance and maintaining transparency. We encourage any employee who feels these practices are not being upheld to speak with their career coach or get in touch with Human Capital as part of our commitment to continuous improvement and wellbeing.

Thank you for your hard work at our firm. I hope to hear from you to discuss your experience personally. In the meantime, I wish you all the best in your professional as well as private life.

Best regards,
Martina Bender
