Gut am Arbeitgeber finde ich

Love the people, the products and the company's mission!

Schlecht am Arbeitgeber finde ich

I dislike the collaboration tools and the usage thereof (i.e. Slack, MS Teams, Calendars, Meetings). Although Amorelie has a great remote work culture, we haven't gotten around to really becoming experts at using digital tools to collaborate. Lots of potential is lost and I see lots of opportunities to become more effective.

Verbesserungsvorschläge

The company and all team members would profit a lot from having more insights into the impact of the teams' initiatives. More business insights into the effects of the OKR strategy would certainly lead to more people daring to come up with ideas and suggestions. Along the lines, there's a lot of trust that "somebody" keeps the revenue up and the company running. It would be nice to see some initiatives to develop a greater sense of "ownership" over company KPIs across all levels. The people at Amorelie stick together; if everyone contributed with their talents and everyone collectively moved in the same direction, then only the sky would be the limit.

Arbeitsatmosphäre

The people make the company! Amorelie has a very dedicated People & Culture team which continuously proved that it has the company's people at its heart. Various regular Q&As, team events, hangout sessions and trainings ensure that people don't feel isolated and are always kept up to date. People across all levels of seniority are incredibly friendly and empowering. It's just plain fun to work with the team :)

Kommunikation

The team of directors has recently done a great job improving transparency. Even difficult topics are broadly discussed in weekly sessions and every team members is given the chance to ask questions or raise their voice towards leadership and the company's new owners. The company has started making its global and team strategies more visible through OKRs in the past year which truly added to everyone having a better understanding on whats going on across the teams. The only thing missing for me is a more clear communication towards the actual performance of the business as well as the impact of the OKR strategies. Some teams excel at sharing their successes while others are too quiet, unfortunately.

Kollegenzusammenhalt

After some troublesome months following an acquisition by new owners, the remaining team members really do their best to keep talent and fulfil the company's mission together. Lots of "old souls" are taking on new roles and responsibilities and stepping up to the challenge. Although the last few months brought lots of frustration and some colleagues going into hibernation, many people kept their spirit up and continued to fight for the mission. Aside from the free toys and the mission, the people of Amorelie are really the best thing about working here.

Work-Life-Balance

Amorelie did a great job implementing a remote work culture while keeping the local office culture alive in Berlin. Workload is fine and responsibilities are distributed fairly. I never had the feeling that I couldn't take time to get personal things sorted. Also after a prolonged time of crunching through projects, nobody had an issue with me taking some time off to decompress.

Vorgesetztenverhalten

The current leadership team is amazing. Everyone is very transparent and clearly giving it all to keep talent and make Amorelie a great place to work. There are still some kinks (lol) that need to be ironed out with the company's new owners which has recently led to some frustration over communication or the lack thereof. However, within the company, I have never had any issues with the leadership team.

Interessante Aufgaben

Specifically in my team, the previous three quarters have mostly consisted of cleaning things up and going into maintenance mode. The tasks weren't as creative as you'd expect from an employer like Amorelie, but they were tasks that were required to keep the company going and move it into a mode in which it could operate successfully again. I saw it as an opportunity to learn about the importance of building sustainable and scalable processes, but would have liked to use the creative parts of my brain a little more. That being said, the new company strategy definitely has lots of space for creative work and will likely make everyday life a little more colourful for other team members and, hopefully, even me.

Amorelie is the most inclusive and progressive employer I've ever worked for in that regard.

Umgang mit älteren Kollegen

The average age of team members is comparatively low. People have been pretty respectful all around and I haven't seen any bad behaviour or discrimination based on age during the time I've worked at Amorelie - neither towards older nor towards younger team members.

Arbeitsbedingungen

Tooling and the usage thereof is sufficient, but far away from excellent. People do often complain about systems "misbehaving" and communication & collaboration tools being less than supportive doing day to day tasks. Pretty much everyone is somehow blocked by insufficient tools and systems. Hardware and tooling budgets, however, are great. I've never had to fight for budget whenever I needed a certain tool to do my job. Unfortunately, collaborative tools (i.e. Slack, MS Teams, ...) seem to be means to an end with only very few people actually harvesting the full potential of such systems. I see some opportunities to improve here.

Umwelt-/Sozialbewusstsein

Amorelie does not (yet) have the most ecologically friendly impact on the planet. After all, we're selling packaged electronic consumer products. However, there's a very positive trend towards becoming a more sustainable company which I truly appreciate. Regarding the social awareness of the company, there's nothing that needs to be questioned. Amorelie is an absolute pioneer in the movement of bringing sexual happiness to people everywhere and I'm proud to be part of the movement. Amorelie has a proper self-awareness and stays true to the cause.

Gehalt/Sozialleistungen

Very competitive and fair, especially regarding the perks aside from the salary.

"I work at Amorelie" will continue to be an amazing ice breaker at parties and other social gatherings. The company is well-known and beloved across its customers - and those pretending not to be ;)

Karriere/Weiterbildung

The company hosts lots of workshops, trainings and allocates a lot of space & time for team members to learn. In addition, the company gives everyone a chance to grow and has always invested into its talent pool.
