I recently went through the interview process for the Field Applications Engineer (FAE) position for Central Europe at Bourns, and I can honestly say it was one of the most remarkable experiences I've had in my career. Despite being a particularly hectic period—coinciding with major trade fairs like PCIM, Battery Show, and Power2Drive/InterSolar—the entire process, from the first conversation to having my contract in hand, was completed in just about two weeks. The efficiency and care shown by everyone involved truly stood out to me.
The journey began with a phone call with the Sales Director for North and Central Europe, who would be my direct manager. From the moment we started talking, I felt at ease. The conversation was not just about my qualifications, but also about who I am as a person and how I might fit within the Bourns family. The Sales Director’s warmth and genuine interest made it feel more like an engaging dialogue with a potential mentor rather than a formal interview. I walked away from that call with a strong sense of excitement and a deep respect for the culture at Bourns.
The second stage was a Teams call with the Sales Director, the VP of Sales EMEA, and the HR Manager for EMEA. Given the pressure everyone must have been under during such a busy week, I was amazed at how welcoming and attentive they were. The conversation wasn’t rushed or transactional; it was thoughtful and collaborative. They took the time to explore my experiences, share their vision for the role, and discuss how I could contribute to the team. The HR Manager’s insights into the company’s values and culture only deepened my desire to be part of Bourns. It felt like I was already being embraced as a colleague, which was incredibly encouraging.
One of the most memorable moments was meeting the Field Applications Engineer (FAE) for Southern Europe at the PCIM event. Despite the buzz of the trade fair, he took the time to give me a detailed overview of what it’s like to work as an FAE at Bourns. His passion for the role and the company was infectious, and it made me even more eager to join. That meeting wasn’t just informative—it was inspiring. It gave me a real sense of the innovation and dedication that drives Bourns, and I left feeling incredibly motivated.
The final step in the process was a meeting with the Area Sales Manager, which wrapped up the experience beautifully. The conversation was open, warm, and insightful, offering me a deeper understanding of the team dynamics and how I could contribute to our collective success. It was clear that collaboration and mutual respect are at the heart of how things are done at Bourns, and that resonated with me deeply.
The fact that the entire interview process, from start to finish, was completed in about two weeks—even amidst the chaos of the trade fairs—speaks volumes about Bourns’ professionalism and commitment. But what really touched me was the genuine care and kindness that everyone showed throughout the process. They made me feel valued, respected, and excited about the future.
Overall, my experience interviewing for the FAE role at Bourns was nothing short of exceptional. It was more than just a series of interviews; it felt like the beginning of a relationship with a company that truly values its people. I am beyond thrilled at the prospect of joining such a dynamic and supportive team, and I look forward to contributing to the amazing work being done at Bourns.
