Es schwingt auch immer ein eUnsicherheit mit, was die Orientierung des Produktes angeht.
Vielleicht sollte man im 'Sinne des Produktes mehr mit Kollegen sprechen die direkt mit Kunden zusammenarbeiten, um abzufragen was diese wirklich brauchen. Denn nicht immer ist das was der Kunde sich wünscht auch das was der Kunde braucht.
Grundsätzlich ist es eine gute Arbeitsatmosphäre.

you get to mostly choose your own hours as long as the work is done. Of course when there are deadlines / presentations you might need to work a bit longer but can balance this yourself

We do have quiet some older and very experienced people which is great. I do not see any difference how they get treated compared to the younger ones. Everyone should be happy and excited to learn from them.
For me this is great. He is really open and easy to communicate with and very motivating. Not sure about the other departments but all executives seem pretty nice.
most people work remotely but there are several meetings a year where everyone gets together which is great.

Given that we are a IT company we have quite a few women in different functions from HR, Sales, Accounting, Project Management. The CEO is also female. I see here no difference between men and women.

To immediately improve the work climate:
Do a survey in the IT department to evaluate the performance of the direct supervisors.
And act on the results of that survey.
After the immediate action has been done, it should be easier to hire more high skilled people for the IT department to get the work done more quickly and ease the workload for everybody.
Internally, I have the feeling that the talk is mostly negative. For understandable reasons (high workload, the brain drain caused by high employee fluctuation).
I think the company leadership is aware of that, but fails to act.
You can't take vacation days over to the next year.
Work can't be done in the 40 hours/week work time.
Improved a bit. But you just don't have the time to educate yourself. Not enough colleagues.
As with the hardware you have on hand to work with, the payment can't compete with other software companies out there.
Everybody has too many tasks to work on. This makes it harder to support others
I can only speak for the IT department here.
I have the feeling, that some leaders hide from their employees.
Others, are just lacking basic social skills.
On the other hand there are good ones.
It's Russian roulette when you start to work.
With bullets in all the trays but one.
So, if you are lucky, you will bet the good one.
