Inexperienced, siloed and toxic environment. No potential to develop yourself. Kununu reviews are part of onboarding.
Schlecht am Arbeitgeber finde ich
In my opinion, they don't follow up on the things they promise.
Ask them for they unlimited vacation days policy or for a concise development plan, that everyone (including management) sticks to.
Even better, ask them about salary parity.
Additionally, it seems, that they cannot handle the pressure of the investors. If you look up the stakes the founders still hold, you can see that their ability to decide is pretty much gone, so it seems.
Verbesserungsvorschläge
Be more transparent, restructure the management and put people in leading positions who actually want to lead and are capable of doing it.
Arbeitsatmosphäre
From my experience, they don't threat people fairly. In good and happy times, there are "praising" channels, where everyone gets their occasional moment to shine, while everyone is reacting with "Rocket" and "100" emojis. In hard times, the first that are blamed are the employees, by the management.
Kommunikation
The company has more and bigger silos than big corporates. This starts with the founders. They are literally not talking to each other. They are even actively not telling each other things, while letting everyone else know that the others are excluded. If you ask one of them about something that impacts the whole company, they neglect it and refer to the other founder.
The communication from the founders, and mid-level management is not transparent. You learn about things after they happened, and there is more drama in this company than in any high school class. People are talking non-stop about each other behind their backs. Recently, there was a layoff of 25% of the company, and the way they communicated it was embarrassing.
Kollegenzusammenhalt
I would argue, that this is the best thing about finway. It seemed, that all the crisis and drama led to some teams needing to stick closely together to not fall below the tires.
Work-Life-Balance
This depends on the department, from my experience. But a lot of people are working a lot, too much actually in my opinion. Especially after they cut down on capacity while still expecting the same output. The founders expect their employees to threat the company as was it their own.
Vorgesetztenverhalten
Some of the mid management lacks experience, empathy and room (financial, projects and positions) to develop the employees. You really have to be careful to who you talk about what, otherwise, the founders will directly approach you 1 hour after the fact.
Gehalt/Sozialleistungen
They are abusing the fact, that a lot of people started their career at finway. Especially in the software engineering, they avoid promoting people and from my experience and from what I've heard, there is no clear financial structure that promotes equality and fairness. In addition, the ESOP share cliff Period is super long compared to other start-ups. I don't know what percentage of employees even achieve 50% of their ESOP shares.
Image
From my experience, the employees are not talking proudly about finway. To be it seemed, that everyone is just looking for an opportunity to jump ship during these difficult times. Every review here has to be read in a way, that its part of the onboarding plan to write one. Therefore, a lot of the reviews here probably were written with an experience of ≈ 30 days at finway.
This is the only explanation, that I have for these ratings. Because they do not reflect the mood at the company at all. If you'd ask them today, they'd probably give you a different answer.
Karriere/Weiterbildung
If you look at the employees from finway and individuals who built it up from the ground, they are still entry to mid-level with no perspective to level up. You can go through their linkedin profiles and see that there is no real development and gratitude towards people that built the software and company.
