Unstable, disrespectful, inhumane. People get fired out of the blue for no legitimate reasons.
Gut am Arbeitgeber finde ich
Young team, space to grow, company has big potential.
Schlecht am Arbeitgeber finde ich
Working atmosphere, office politics and risk of loosing one's job for speaking up.
Arbeitsatmosphäre
The working environment felt like a jungle; everything was based on favoritism and nepotism. You had to get close to at least one of the three founders to progress in your career. Managers took credit for the work of their reports. There was an absolute lack of appreciation. Very demotivating and draining. Meetings often suffered from the HiPPO effect.
Kommunikation
The co-founders were rather transparent when it comes to financials, but the data was sometimes altered and presented in ways to make it look better to keep everyone excited. Many things happened behind closed doors with zero clarity to the rest of the team.
Kollegenzusammenhalt
Most colleagues working there are friendly and down to earth. Few employees served as "spies" for the founders, they would get sent to have discussions with their peers only to collect stories and report them back to the founders. You need to be very careful with who you trust there. Some employees might turn you into an insider WhatsApp meme and make fun of you without you knowing. Teams no longer socialized as much after the first mass layoffs, everyone was scared.
Work-Life-Balance
Doesn't exist. Employees are encouraged to stay late (20.00 o'clock or later) by offering free dinner to everyone who's still in the office. You are expected to work over-hours and you are never compensated for them. No one thanks you for staying late or encourages you to take some time off. Showing up to evening company events is almost mandatory unless you want to risk loosing you job.
Vorgesetztenverhalten
The founders are known for yelling and treating employees in a passive aggressive manner. The founders like to be involved in every single detail and don't really trust their employees or the people they are working with. You aren't taken seriously unless you come from an advantaged rich background or that you have a degree from the same university where one of the founders have studied.
Interessante Aufgaben
One can learn a lot and have a lot of impact given the size and the stage of the company but don't expect to get feedback. You need to find an external mentor to help you with that.
Gleichberechtigung
Gender equality is somehow established and better than many German companies. Social equality doesn't exist at all, as I mentioned above, you're judged based on your background not what you bring to the table and how you contribute using your skills.
Umgang mit älteren Kollegen
There wasn't anyone I would consider of advanced age but I would expect everyone to treat them just like everyone else.
Arbeitsbedingungen
The office was decent but used to be loud, it sometimes got too stressful. There was a lack of meeting rooms.
Umwelt-/Sozialbewusstsein
There's room for improvement when it comes to how products are packaged.
Gehalt/Sozialleistungen
It depends on your relationship with the founders. Mostly below market, even when you're doing more tasks than you're expected to.
Image
The image you see on the internet doesn't represent the reality, it paints an unrealistic picture just like everything on social media.
Karriere/Weiterbildung
They was a dedicated budget for full-time employees who have worked there for over a year.
