Several attempts to establish a format to increase transparency among the whole company. There were quarterly company meetings to speak about most recent developments and decisions. Team-related topics were communicated and discussed in either short daily or weekly meetings.
Kollegenzusammenhalt
Within the team: Nice team spirit with people supporting each other when needed (e.g. in contract or proposal preparations, client meetings), during Covid lockdowns, people also managed themselves to collaborate and keep bonding
Cross-department: Did depend on the respective other team, worked for most teams, the definition of client centricity was often subjective
Work-Life-Balance
Sometimes more, sometimes less balanced ;)
Vorgesetztenverhalten
Usually dependent on the person in the position but after all, supportive. Generally speaking, the line manager(s) is (are) more of a sparring partner than someone who tells you what and how to do things
Interessante Aufgaben
Challenging and highly interesting tasks and clients. Taking ownership is expected. If you're keen to take initiative, you'll have a great learning curve throughout the entire customer sales cycle with all different hierarchy levels and company sizes in your client network
Arbeitsbedingungen
- Sufficient equipment (Laptop, mobile phone, tablet) which was adequately renewed after I had some technical issues. During the Covid lockdown phases, people were offered all necessary equipment for a comfortable work space at home (monitor, office chair, keyboard, etc.)
- Open space office with communal space in one of the two kitchens to mingle, desks were adjustable in height, number of meeting rooms was usually sufficient if you had booked them in advance, though not every meeting room had a proper speaker or TV screen etc. for videoconferencing so people would have e.g. used portable speakers which got lost quite often
- Remarkable lunch opportunities on campus
- Subsidies for lunch, BVG and Urban Sports Club membership, occasional team and company events, fitness course once per week with one of the neighboring startups (although this was paused during Covid), growing number of benefits was discussed and planned after I've left
Karriere/Weiterbildung
The size of the company naturally does not provide many classic career opportunities. Though there are multiple possibilities to enlarge your (Sales) competences on the job.
Employee training is not an individualized process, there is for example no training catalogue for each team (yet?) which you can choose from. I benefited from a couple of team training measures (e.g. Storytelling or Negotiation), not all of them were directly related to my work competences or knowledge level as these were often aimed at new employees. There is the option to require individual training.
Lastly, there was a German course initiated for all non Native speakers.
