Gut am Arbeitgeber finde ich

The work of the people and culture department shows the company's commitment to providing for employees. Some need to use those benefits more however. Overall, atmosphere and tenor of the company is enjoyable.

Find more opportunities to help employees enjoy time off and recover. The desire to go, go, go can be to much for some team members. A majority of the decisions and strategies have a lot of thought behind them and are well-planned and executed. However taking a step back and allowing people to breathe is a good idea... and that includes time in the office and out of the office.

Arbeitsatmosphäre

The atmosphere is enjoyable and I regularly find myself wanted to stay and spend time with colleagues outside of work.

Overall the team members are focused and confident. Sometimes, tension rises while working on a project, but the wins are celebrated loudly which I really appreciate and the feeling is one of optimism and belief in the goals.

Kommunikation

From deep dives to open doors and even a newly introduced ask-me-anything session, the attempts to communicate within the company and between depts are numerous. Some people do not have time to attend each and everyone, which is a shame, but the results can be very beneficial.

Kollegenzusammenhalt

Such a diverse group of thinkers is rewarding. The company has grown a significant amount, so it is hard to keep track of names. However regular team events (either by company or by colleagues) helps bridge that gap. That is not to say that there is no friction, but at the same time the dangers of group think are not really prevalent.

Work-Life-Balance

A considerable vacation policy with bonus days helps push back on the grind. The day to day ebbs and flows in terms of intensity with some weeks with more action and others with excellent focus time.

The additional Bavarian holidays and personal days off for special occasions helps. I also appreciate being able to work on the go, with everything I need to be mobile.

Vorgesetztenverhalten

The C-level and management are down to Earth and amicable. There is sometimes bit of distance between the highest and the rest, which can feel off-putting. However the regular communication as mentioned above helps alleviate some of that feeling.

A recent addition of ask-me-anything is welcome and helps team members ask and answer the burning questions in the back of their heads.

Interessante Aufgaben

Turning a classic industry such as rail has its challenges that any ambitious person would enjoy. Progress is evident in many areas of the industry and lacking in others. Overall adding the sustainability aspect gives a feeling of contributing to the greater good as opposed to building and hocking software only to make money.

My particular position has me working with many different teams within the company, so every project feels fresh and exciting.

Gleichberechtigung

Most diverse company I have worked at (and the previous employers weren't so bad either). Lots of women in tech, people from around the world and people with different perspectives. Many of those new thought processes are recognized, some are adopted.

Could there be more people in higher positions that break the expectations of a tech company in Germany? Absolutely something I see as having the attention of management and hope to help alleviate soon.

Umgang mit älteren Kollegen

Although the company is youthful in many areas, the numerous older colleagues appear to do well in the atmosphere. From colleagues located in other locations, to those in the HQ in Munich, there appears to be a recognition of their strengths and wisdom. Many of these colleagues are in higher positions as you would expect.

Arbeitsbedingungen

The office, even if small for the size of the company, has a good feel to it and is set up to help people get their stuff done. Standing desks, second screens and peripherals are all provided. More natural lighting would be good.

Umwelt-/Sozialbewusstsein

The company lays sustainability at the front of its vision and the product helps with that in some manner, especially with the increase of ridership in rail.

There is space for the company to contribute to good environmental conditions as people and often there are obvious contributions, whether that is volunteering (2 volunteer days a year are paid) or using environmentally friendly products or prioritizing train travel over flying.

Gehalt/Sozialleistungen

Great pay and benefits, including company shares.

Many inside the rail industry have a positive image of KONUX and exhibit some envy for the employees of the company.

There are plenty of places for the company to improve that image of itself and as seen by others, such as those listed above. However, self reflection appears to be a strength of this company at certain points (mostly) and a desire to continuously improve is evident in many aspects of the company.

Karriere/Weiterbildung

The personal development budget is considerable and something I have used on occasion, but plan to prioritize more. I see plenty of room to grow along with the possibility of working on new projects to keep learning fresh.

Although, I don't see a ton of upward mobility for myself at the moment, many of my colleagues have been promoted and celebrated within the company. So fingers crossed!

We’re glad to hear that you are happy at KONUX overall. Thank you for raising some potential improvements too, though. This is the only way we learn and grow.

We will engage with the leads and emphasize they encourage their team to take vacation and not work during their time off. Time off is essential to recharge, relax and enjoy your work and be at your best. It is definitely not wanted by P&C that people feel they have to work during their vacation or sick days.

You’re also mentioning that it sometimes feels there is a gap between “the highest and the lowest”. Our Execs are striving to be close to the team and we’ll continue to work on communication formats to improve this. If you have any specific ideas that you would like to see implemented to feel less of a distance, P&C is eager to know! :)
