While the office is located 3 min walk from Englischer Garten it would be nice if there was a shower, so that one could go for a jogging before and/or after work. Would be also nice to have some room for workout.
I literally struggle to write something else here, because I am excited about coming to the office every day.
The first and only company with Psychological Safety that actually works: you can freely speak your mind and raise concerns about business and/or your personal life and I promise you, nobody will ever judge you. At Luminovo, speaking about harsh and uncomfortable truths/problems/concerns is being promoted and rewarded, regardless of your leveling (good tip for your interview process). Psychological Safety means that people will be always put first and everyone follows this principle, both founders and employees. Psychological Safety has opened so many doors regarding the transparency, honesty and employee's loyalty which other companies are yet to discover. I have personally never experienced such level of transparency at any company, e.g. if you are struggling with some topic it's completely fine to let your manager know about it and you will definitely receive support and necessary knowledge.
The Team. Extremely (I cannot emphasise this enough) smart people with bright minds. Luminovo overall is a very condensed place filled with overachievers and intellectually gifted individuals, both on the engineering and commercial sides. Working with Luminerds (employees of Luminovo) means giving and receiving feedbacks, trusting one another and having fun! It means being authentical yourself, staying humble and enjoying the time together. If you did not laugh, it was a wasted day.
Humble and down-to-earth founders. Founders are being treated in no different way than any other employee. There is little-to-no hierarchy at Luminovo. Founders themselves are individual contributors 50/50 and actually do the work alongside other Luminerds at the same desk, and NOT just focusing on "managing" others (even though "managing others" might not be a proper description of the relationship between individual contributors and their managers at Luminovo).
Diverse team with over 20 different nationalities! You will be welcomed and accepted.
Startup with extremely bright and perspectival future: you will be working in high-end technological context and be encouraged to focus on things that create impact. You will never be encouraged to do stuff just because "somebody told you to do it" but be incentivised to use your own head and know the "why". Example: I questioned an approach of a solution that one of our founders proposed and I was given a shoutout for doing so in our weekly in front of the whole team.
Very good work atmosphere, that meets the balance between performance orientation and rooms for mistakes while always being fun.
I mean, a fast-growing startup is probably not the place to go if you want to optimize for free time, but luminovo provides quite some flexibility and freedom to schedule working hours according to individual needs.
Definitely a healthy mentality of supporting each other
I had an excellent manager, who always had my personal growth in mind and was very good at providing regular feedback.
Overall excellent, asynchronous communication style, while I believe the company vision could be communicated better visually.
Average benchmarked salaries, which are very fair and transparent.
Revolutionizing the entire electronics industry- there is not much that's more exciting :)
Luminovo's culture is well thought-out and, to say the least, the best company culture I've ever experienced. Quite a handful of people have been on the team since the beginning, which I think speaks volumes about the culture.
Founders:
The founders are very open to feedback, approachable, never hesitate to acknowledge when things don't go well, and do everything within their capacity to change the situation based on the feedback they receive.
Enforcing Changes:
Luminovo is a flat organization, so enforcing changes is easy. Most decisions are usually RFC-driven. Anyone (interns included) can write down thoughts on how things could be improved and get comments from interested people. If a consensus is reached on the next steps, it'll almost immediately be kickstarted by whoever is responsible. Honestly, that's exactly how it is.
Language:
English is the de facto language for all internal communications, despite being based in Germany—which for me was a relief since I relocated to work here. Building a welcoming atmosphere was a vital priority because the employees are from diverse nationalities and locations. This wasn't just something promised; it was always done.
If a non-german speaker stepped into a room in the office with all German speakers, everyone immediately switched to English to make just that one person feel very welcome, and everyone did it happily. This happened every time, and every one was intentional about it.
People:
There are also really smart people on the team, and you'll have the opportunity to learn a lot from them. Never will you ever feel that you’re asking a dumb question. Instead, people are very happy to support you.
Events:
Luminovo hosts yearly company hangouts, and every team hosts multiple in-person team retreats throughout the year. Each of these sessions helped build a strong sense of belonging across the team and made working with them much easier after these events.
In every remote setting, it can be very easy to build a false picture of how people are, but when you meet them in person you learn more about them. After each of these team events, I felt I got to know my colleagues better, which had the positive effect of never hesitating to reach out if I ever had a question.
Conclusion:
While working with the team, I made many great connections, many of whom I'm still in active communication with. Indeed, it was the best place I've ever worked until I left.
This isn't a con. However, depending on your career priorities, it could be a place to stay long-term or mid-term. Nonetheless, irrespective of how long you stay, you'll have a quality impact in the electronics industry and learn a lot - giving feedback, taking feedback, harnessing and improving your skills, communicating better, and much more.
The electronics space is very technical, and based on the company's current stage, some can consider it very niche. Unfortunately, if you're dead set on doing something that's directly used by lots of people, Luminovo might not be a tremendous fit at the moment (things are changing, though ;)).
However, if you're looking for something that has the potential to influence a large industry but could be used by just a few people, then Luminovo will be a great fit.
I am grateful for the enriching experience and would wholeheartedly recommend Luminovo to those seeking a workplace that values its people and strives for greatness.
I have the pleasure of being part of Luminovo since more than two years, and it has been an exceptional experience so far. This company truly stands out as a fantastic employer in many ways.
I feel fortunate to be part of such a forward-thinking and supportive team and would highly recommend Luminovo to anyone seeking a rewarding work experience.
Luminovo is backed by top-tier investors and the Founders & team have a great standing in the (Munich) startup scene.
Luminovo wants employees to be in control of their work-life integration and therefore offers a range of options, including flexible working hours and the choice to work in a fully remote, hybrid, or in-office setup.
One can also make use of additional unpaid vacation days in addition to the 28 days of paid vacation per year for full-time employees.
This flexibility allows Luminerds to tailor their work environment to suit their individual needs.
Luminovo understands that every professional journey is unique, and every employee is encouraged to shape their own career paths. The support provided by managers is exceptional: they act as mentors, offering guidance and resources to help navigate the diverse opportunities within the company. This emphasis on personalized progression not only allows for professional fulfillment but also ensures that each employee can contribute their best to the collective success of Luminovo.
Psychological safety is the cornerstone of Luminovo's team culture. The emphasis on open communication, respect for diverse opinions, and a non-judgmental atmosphere creates a space where team members feel comfortable taking risks and expressing their ideas.
All Luminerds are recognized not only as employees, but as individuals that also have goals, struggles, and responsibilities outside of work.
The leadership team at Luminovo is approachable and visionary, which is extremely motivating. The two Founders form a perfect tandem and I appreciate how they are humble and ambitious at the same time. They are incredibly smart, and they care deeply about Luminovo and the team.
Luminovo provides high-quality equipment to ensure everyone has the tools they need to be productive in their individual role & work setup.
This includes laptop, headsets, home-office equipment, keyboards, ...
Why only 4/5 stars then? While the office is very cozy, spacious enough, and in a great location (Maxvorstadt), I wish it had more natural light and a more office-like productive feel to it.
The work culture at Luminovo is unparalleled. The team consists of highly talented and motivated individuals who are not only excellent at what they do, but also incredibly supportive and collaborative. The open communication channels and emphasis on transparency create a positive and very dynamic work environment.
Luminovo provides competitive salaries (benchmarked annually), virtual stock options, customizable mental health benefits, child care support, and more.
As a female employee that joined Luminovo right after university, I can confidently say that I have felt a genuine sense of inclusion and respect, regardless of gender, age, or position.
As someone who got bored at the end of every three-months internship in the past, Luminovo has kept me on my feet all throughout the past two years. Everything at Luminovo keeps evolving and so far, we were always able to align my learning goals with the progression Luminovo needed (in terms of speed & trajectory).
Tbh mostly everything while I know this is probably not super helpful. I started in another department and after learning a lot. We discussed where else I could learn as much as possible with the capability and knowledge I have, and now I joined the People team. I love it here so much and can highly recommend working for Luminovo before doing anything else to improve your quality of work tremendously.
I think there is not much going on in terms of ecological topics, but in a very modern and efficient startup this is not really a topic tbh.
- Culture of learning and giving feedback. Take psychological safety very seriously.
- Willing to try out new things on the technical side keeping the tech stack and the work very interesting for software engineers.
- Extremely friendly team
- Big vision
Psychological safety belongs to Luminovo like the Oktoberfest to Munich. All employees are encouraged to voice criticism and praise to one another.
Fantastic image in the Munich Startup scene.
Career opportunities might be limited due to the company size, but Luminovo tries to create the perfect job for its employees.
The company set itself the goal to become more environmentally friendly.
Luminovo supports connecting all employees - whether they work for one of its offices are remote. One of these are measures are weekly coffee chat matches.
Luminovo has a flexible device policy which ultimately leaves it up to the employee to choose their ideal work setup. The Munich office offers meeting spaces and telephone booths.
Generell recht junges Team.
One-on-ones alle 2 Wochen. Anliegen werden behandelt, bis es eine Lösung gibt (es gibt kein "Wegignorieren")
Büro in Top-Lage.
Politik / "going behind someones back" ist hochgradig verpönt.
- I have never seen so many young, talented and motivated people in one place. In my opinion, the best part about the company.
-Really innovative ideas paired with deep knowledge. A company with enormous growth potential
- Versatile and exciting tasks, you will experience and learn something new every day.
- Flexible time and task allocation
- Culture of proactivity
Working hours can be long and it is expected to go the extra mile - however, in my case this was communicated transparently in the application process.
The culture is the best I have ever had at a company. Everyone wants to move forward together, learn something and make a difference. The employees are aware of this and therefore willing to go the extra mile. There is a real culture of proactivity.
Longer working hours may well occur - for some reason the long days didn't feel that exhausting though. Maybe this is due to the startup culture and flat-hierarchy of the company.
An extremely strong learning curve is possible and employees are encouraged through various 1:1's and team workshops. Everyone has to think about the long-term career opportunities for themselves - but is encouraged to do so in personal 1:1's with the founders.
Industry-standard
I have never seen so many young, talented and motivated people in one place. In my opinion, the best part about the company
A culture of feedback, open communication, OKR's, 1:1's and team-retros. Really cool to experience the continuous team-alignment. Hope that the company can maintain this culture with the upcoming growth.
Versatile and exciting tasks, you actually experience and learn something new every day.
So verdient kununu Geld.
