I applied to the Dev Tools position at NumberFour AG back march 2015. I got very quick feedback after submitting my application. A cool and professional HR handled my application and guided me through the process. Had to go through an initial questionnaire and afterwards a coding challenge. I found the process amusing and I had the flexibility to decide when to do it as those were offline.
After that, an initial interview with HR took place and then with the manager of engineering. Both interviews were in a respectful and relaxed tone, where I felt the third-party was trying to be as honest as possible. My major concern where some negative online reviews, but with transparency I was shown that actions where taken in order to address some of major historical issues. It felt like the company had a "restart" and now they are doing things well, demonstrated by the dramatic reduction of employee turnover.
I meet the engineering team at Berlin (cozy, modern, and centric office in Mitte), was interview by some of then and even did a presentation. It was clear the company was trying to make sure they were to hire the right person, by making sure I would get along with my future colleagues. The office breathes innovation and creativity, and there are some very skilled engineers and researchers.
I'm very happy with the whole application process, I felt treated like a human being and that communication was transparent.
Erst musste unbedingt ein sehr kurzfristiger Termin fürs Telefoninterview gefunden werden und dann war keiner zum vereinbartn Termin erreichbar. auch danach keinerlei Rückmeldung.
Applied for a developer job. Had to code (offline) a lengthy exercise with an outdated framework. Didn't receive a reply until several weeks later. Then went through a shallow and technically rather weak interview that was full of claims and opinions but few references. I had read the bad reviews here before and asked about the working conditions at the company, the reviewers evaded a clear answer. The interviewers declared me technically fit for the job and announced a last, non technical interview. A week later I interviewed with that person, but I got the impression that they didn't like me. The interview was followed by a rejection notification.
The application process was great and fun. Beside their professional behavior they were very amicable. After sending my CV they contacted me within a couple of days. The whole process took for a few weeks but I think it was normal in my case, I was applying from abroad. The few calls I had with them were concise and very friendly. They could answer all my questions so it was absolutely clear what I can expect from the company. NumberFour is a much recommended place to apply for a job and work there.
Erst den riesen Aufriss veranstalten und dann kommt kein Feedback zurück. Telefoninterview auf englisch, obwohl Sitz in Hamburg und Berlin. Unternehmen macht einen sehr arroganten Eindruck.
Another company which believe providing a Foosball table constitutes a “corporate culture” worth thinking about. A generation of technology workers should know how terrible such typical, micromanaged jobs are in German companies which offer salaries so low you can hardly pay the rent. What good is an array of cheap perks (8:30 pm pizza!) if people aren’t trusted to choose what to work on and direct their own careers? Stock options at this company are completely worthless as are the "world-class" micomanagers.
