Gut am Arbeitgeber finde ich

The company outings were usually entertaining and the central railway station of Weinheim is only a minute away.

Schlecht am Arbeitgeber finde ich

Although there are internal feedback mechanisms established and executive management actively acknowledges issues and required countermeasures in conversation, nothing happens. Not in years. The acknowledgment is just to give you a warm and fuzzy feeling but it's just, again and again, a facade for you to keep believing in change. Criticism, no matter how well couched, is not welcome. Many colleagues who had some spine to ask for change either left or were dismissed over the years.

Verbesserungsvorschläge

Lack of accountability and the corporate culture should be urgently reconsidered. Keep ego and emotions out of conflicts, stay professional. Also communicate bad news to control the flow of information. Take more risks in business decisions.

Arbeitsatmosphäre

Early in my tenure with the company, I experienced that management and executives often put pressure on new employees, myself included, to disclose private information to build a "true relationship of trust" that was part of the "Schlegel experience," but you could always tell that this was only used for assessment and control. This does not create a trusting, genuine working relationship with the company. I always felt that was a great pity because, apart from a few toxic personalities, many colleagues were actually very nice individually, but the company culture made them very difficult to work with.

Kommunikation

Internal communication from executive management is virtually non-existent unless it's to celebrate something positive. When there is bad news, you don't hear about it without good connections to colleagues. I generally had the impression that communication in conflict situations was also very poor, up to and including disparaging behavior in discussions with the executive management.

Work-Life-Balance

Don't accept overtime that expires at the end of the month. Get pay or flex time. If there is no ongoing pandemic, don't expect too much opportunity for working from home.

Vorgesetztenverhalten

I often experienced with many colleges, including all levels of management and administration a total lack of personal accountability for their actions. Either others or external factors got blamed.

Arbeitsbedingungen

The buildings are just as old as the management style. We often had to solve problems with the computer ourselves because no qualified support was available.

Umwelt-/Sozialbewusstsein

The company and management present itself with social responsibility, and sustainability towards the environment: When you are with the company, look at the figures (annual donations & CO2 compensation) and concepts. Personally, this had always given the impression of greenwashing and socialwashing. Nevertheless, if it is easy to reach, some trips to customers are also made by train.

Gehalt/Sozialleistungen

OK for the size of the company and location.

Karriere/Weiterbildung

Very limited. Not much to learn after 2-3 years.
