The interview consisted on four stages: introductory, home assignment, technical and behavioral.
I progressed until the behavioral step but they refused to extend an offer because I was later told that I actually did not pass the technical step, which came roughly a week before.
The feedback given was rather verbose, but factually incorrect: I was rated a junior developer despite multiple years of international work experience, a master degree and an extensive portfolio. I find such evaluation rather incorrect and possibly offensive.
The home assignment was quite weird, it was some code that was expected to be displayed only through ApplicationConsole line, no knowledge of APIs or any Java framework was tested at all.
The technical interviewers seemed much more interested in finesses of Java that could be easily sorted out with a quick lookup at the documentation, but the interviewers demanded them to be learned by memory and measured the professional level only through that. This is not an objective way to evaluate a candidate's seniority level.
The selection process has a lot of room for improvement, if they were not satisfied about my technical proficiency, the behavioral interview was then not necessary, as well as it was not necessary to wait another two weeks for their rejection, since this made very difficult my negotiation process with the employer I had at the time and all the other offers that I had lining up.
