Big disappointment ! Nothing to do with the competitors.
Gut am Arbeitgeber finde ich
The young generation is full of power and motivation and seems like it wants to make some changes.
The people are SO friendly (when you go for coffee together).
The management board is close to the employees and make constant visits.
Schlecht am Arbeitgeber finde ich
HR is not patient at all with specific processes. As one of my first contacts, I did not feel welcome when I spoke with HR.
Team members (not all) are not transparent, honest and real.
No clear roadmap for career development. It's more like do your work, and you will get promoted "with time".
Micromanagement might not be clear in the beginning, but then you understand how it is incorporated.
Salary is not responding well to actual inflation in Germany and the housing crisis in Munich.
Verbesserungsvorschläge
Self-Development Roadmap: It's crucial to establish a structured learning pathway for employee self-improvement. Currently, there's a noticeable lack of initiative in this area, which is quite disappointing.
Role Clarity and Transparency: Non-managerial staff should be aware of their limits and not overstep their authority. Greater transparency in team interactions is needed to avoid underhanded tactics and foster a healthier work environment.
Job Fit and Expectations: It's important to accurately assess the skill level required for a position and hire accordingly. Employees with high qualifications should not be relegated to tasks that don't meet their expectations or academic backgrounds. While job responsibilities were briefly mentioned during recruitment, the actual work turned out to be underwhelming and not as anticipated.
Leave some space to young talents and their own perspective of what life at a bug company should be
Kommunikation
The communication culture in the team I was in (not the department or the company), appears to be incongruent with its professed openness to feedback and initiative. I've observed instances where the management's response to suggestions or critiques was not as transparent or supportive as expected.
Furthermore, there is a noticeable inconsistency in how the team handles errors. Despite acknowledging that errors are part of learning, responses to mistakes often feel unduly harsh and aggressive, contrasting with the verbal assurances given. This inconsistency can lead to confusion and demotivation. Moreover, the overstepping of boundaries by some colleagues, regardless of their junior or equivalent status, disrupts team dynamics and undermines professional hierarchy and respect.
Kollegenzusammenhalt
My rating of two star reflects specifically some members of the team I worked with, not the entire company.
Team dynamics were challenging, with colleagues frequently reporting to managers behind the scenes. Explanations of the tasks were not clear, and some did not seem to know what they wanted.
Colleagues often appeared friendly to my face while simultaneously sharing negative and sometimes inaccurate assessments with others, both within and outside the team.
Work-Life-Balance
The tasks assigned to me were well-managed, yer a bit unclear sometimes. The manager showed support and did not require extra hours beyond the standard workload. Additionally, there was a clear respect for personal boundaries, ensuring that private time at home remained undisturbed.
Vorgesetztenverhalten
The tasks were shared in an unclear way, making you sometime make mistakes you will be judged for. Wrong assumptions were also made. There was no clear path or roadmap for self development. You simply had to do "the work" which was demotivating. I think that's because they know that in that way they could keep you more at the company on the long term.
Interessante Aufgaben
In my cases in Sales the tasks assigned are rudimentary, akin to what a first or second-semester working student might undertake which was honestly explained during the recruitment phase but appeared in the end to be not motivating. There's little opportunity for learning or growth, as one is expected to adhere to outdated strategies. This could lead to long-term demotivation and a sense of futility regarding one's educational background and past efforts.
Umgang mit älteren Kollegen
The following is related to colleagues outside the Team. Lots of seniors and lots of people retiring. Nevertheless, the people (if not at manager level) are very understanding, transparent, and from whom you can gain valuable experience whether related to your job or not. They are honest and will share the positive but also the negative hidden.
Arbeitsbedingungen
The building and decoration is so old and not deprived of "life".
You will get all the equipment you need except for juniors who could be promised something and then will not get it compared to standard colleagues.
iPhone 11 (if I remember right)
HP Laptop, which is used by most companies in Germany.
Very limited access to self development resources for early starters (trainees and juniors)
Umwelt-/Sozialbewusstsein
Sustainability here, sustainability there but nothing from that is real --> Corporate spirit all the way and negative vibe.
Gehalt/Sozialleistungen
Not worth your diploma. They have strict rules regarding fresh graduates, which is fixing the salary at a specific level. Disregarding your experience, it would be impossible for you to negotiate your salary, which is not fulfilling for Munich. To be also honest not much different from other companies.
Image
The company is still good at what it is doing, yet not in Munich where there is no initiative for youngsters to thrive and compared to other companies, there is no scheduled program for new joiners and young employees. The company is getting old-fashioned and is not up-to-date when it comes to new trends, young generation encouragement, certifications, etc ...
