Working in an international company can be challenging at times but it is also very exciting. You get the opportunity to communicate with people from all over the world and learn about how they do business.
You also have the freedom to manage your own tasks and agenda, as long as it works & all the necessary work is covered. There is no feeling of micro management.
Here in Heilbronn we are only a fraction of the whole global VPG organization. The atmosphere on site it very pleasant and all employees are on a first name basis. We have weekly events that take place such as our "Coffee Chat" which allows team members to come together and discuss topics other than just work. Team building and bonding is an important topic on site.
The company needs to work on their current image. Historically being part of a larger company, the VPG image is often enough confused with the former company. We need to put more effort towards our "brand awareness" to make the world aware of who VPG is.
We have many benefits including company doctor, health events (ex. office yoga), flexible working time, and the option for 1 Home Office day per week.
Company pension scheme, monthly additional contributions, company Doctor, training options for employees, company events
The team on site gets along well, sometimes there are hurdles along the way, which is only natural, but we try our best to get over them. Through open and honest communication we learn more about each other and the best way to move forward.
Locally, in Heilbronn, we have very supportive management. They are always open to feedback and make themselves available to the team.
On a larger scale, each division has their own management, and sometimes management styles differ. Also being an international company, it is important to be aware of the different cultures and how this may affect management style.
Being an international company, communication at time can be challenging, working with different time zones and with different cultures. However, on the other hand it is also a perk because it allows you to learn how to adapt to different situations and helps you grow as an individual.
On site, the team has open communication with one another. We have monthly meetings to discuss local topics and we also believe in an open door policy.
You never know what the day will bring. I am not limited to working only on daily German administrative tasks but I also get the chance to work with more international topics, this is exciting because is allows me to learn something new everyday. No two days are the same and this is something that keeps the job interesting and exciting!
On-site supervisor behavior
Respond more quickly and flexibly to additional personnel requirements
Orienting and responding to contemporary changes to ensure staff retention
Pleasant working atmosphere in our division
The image of the company varies from department to department.
On the whole ok
Perfect for me as a part-time employee. Room for improvement in terms of flexibility on the topic of home office
Further education such as language courses or IT courses are offered. Promotion opportunities are less possible here in Heilbronn.
That has improved somewhat in the last year.
Salary increases were very difficult to achieve, which will hopefully be pushed further by the current management. Salaries are paid very punctually.
The topic is growing and developing - meanwhile almost paperless office. More home offices would also contribute to climate protection - this is still capable of development.
Mutual respect and tolerance
In general, the interaction with colleagues is respectful
Our local management meets us at eye level and with appreciation. It supports us in the best possible way
Ergonomic workstations, no open-plan office which I personally appreciate very much
Pleasant working atmosphere in our division
In my opinion yes
In our department, the areas of responsibility are divided fairly and, depending on the workload, colleagues support each other as we keep the areas of responsibility transparent for the team. Thus, vacation and sickness replacements are possible without any problems. The areas of responsibility are varied - for example: customer service, purchasing and communication with logistics & the production in IL & USA are part of the daily routine.
Sometimes the processes are somewhat rigid / inflexible due to policy guidelines, which costs time.
I like the mix of people you work with. For me it's more important with whom I work than where. Sometimes, this can trigger your limits but makes you grow in the same time. It's good that we have this exciting and supporting spirit on site.
Vishay Measurements Group GmbH is a rather small entity in GER, Heilbronn within a global corporate company. Further evaluation just refers to the legal entity GmbH and the small team on site of 45 employees - of whom 30 are office-based.
The atmosphere on site is friendly, committing and direct.
Flexi-time, carry over holidays, Home-Office-Option, health events and a supporting mangement on site contribute to a good work-life-balance.
Salaries and travel expenses are paid in time. Vermögenswirksame Leistungen, betriebliche Altersvorsorge, Sachbezüge can be paid on an above average level.
We are all human and not perfect. However, you come along better with each other when adressing issues to respected parties directly and neutral. I think, we suceed most of the times. This pays to our value as a team. On top, we have possibilites to form the team outside the office location: Active Events & Company Parties.
The corporate company is clustered in different BU operating internationally. Thus, the matrix organization provides different managers who may work abroad. Different culture may reveal different managerial style and challenges in itself. Focusing on local management, you can always approach and meet an open ear when providing rational arguments.
There is regular exchange between managers, each teams and the Heilbronn team as a whole. Platforms like coffee chats, dashboards or digital folders/boards give room for formal and informal communication.
In life, it should not matter where you come from, how you look like, what you can afford or who you love. It should matter how you behave and if you can differentiate these topics. I think, we are very close.
Working internationally in a matrix org can be very demanding, but will make you grow automatically. A downsize is that small teams often enough struggle with time differences/vacation/sickness cover. On the other hand, you can influence a lot with your work effort.
Personally, I would not want to reduce to German based work only or being one of a lot within the pool...
Other BU´s have success because they have a different Management. My personally oppinion.
Management in Israel. Totally oldschool and stingy. My personally oppinion.
Change the system and management or more people and customers will leave.
My personally oppinion.
Nearly unknown. My personally oppinion.
Not all BU's are the same, but there are personnel in management who had better learn how to write and live communication.
Patriarchs sit in Israel. My personally oppinion.
They like to communicate success, but not employees by themselves who have quit. My personally oppinion.
Men yes, woman not. My personally oppinion.
Too much different ones, no clear strategy. My personally oppinion.
