A good place to study, not so much to work
Gut am Arbeitgeber finde ich
Location (central, easily accessible).
Schlecht am Arbeitgeber finde ich
Research success is more important than employee wellbeing.
Verbesserungsvorschläge
Care more deeply about your employees. Pay them competitive salaries. Offer them more progressive working conditions and development opportunities.
Arbeitsatmosphäre
Strongly dependent on one's position, team, supervisor and department. Very competitive, high pressure to conform, many temporary employees. In case of problems, official services seem to be out of their depth and their loyalty seems to belong to the organisation rather than to the people concerned (even in serious situations). I have experienced an atmosphere of fear.
Kommunikation
Depending on perspective. Alright at global level, different at department and team level (a lot of control, unclear communication).
Kollegenzusammenhalt
Many help and stand by each other. There are a lot of really great people working there.
Work-Life-Balance
Very hierarchical and not sustainable.
Vorgesetztenverhalten
Academic achievements are strongly favoured over management skills.
If you have superiors who behave problematically, you should not expect to be supported. HR seems to have very little influence.
Interessante Aufgaben
Cutting-edge research and interesting projects.
Gleichberechtigung
Conservative: women are pushed into caring roles and carry the mental load. If you complain, they say it has always been that way and that is just the way it is here.
Arbeitsbedingungen
Good working materials (computer, desk).
Gehalt/Sozialleistungen
Salary is below average.
Karriere/Weiterbildung
There are many internal training courses, which is very good. However, temporary employees have few opportunities for development.
