air up is not perfect, but a great place to work for purpose-driven and ambitious people
Gut am Arbeitgeber finde ich
In my opinion air up is an extraordinary company with a great purpose and amazing people. The diversity of the team (40 different nationalities), the flexibility, the innovative product and the drive of the air uppies makes it a great place to work. There were for sure some management decisions that I didn't like or understand, but in general I'm fully convinced that the founders are always aiming for the best solution for the company AND its employees.
Verbesserungsvorschläge
I understand that hiring external people with more experience often seems like the easier way to take expertise into the company, but I feel like this lead to a lot of resentment among employees. I would recommend air up to set a higher focus on supporting the development of the employees they have and who live up to air up's values.
Arbeitsatmosphäre
The people working at air up are great! It's a diverse bunch of open-minded, smart and fun people. In my experience hierarchies were low and I could communicate with every stakeholder on eye-level. The management communicates in an easy and approachable way, but they also tend to focus on the things that could be done better rather than celebrating and appreciating the achievements.
Kommunikation
The management always tried to be as transparent as they could. Still, the information sometimes didn't reach everyone - either because information streams broke or because there was an overload with information at some points.
Kollegenzusammenhalt
I had a great team with a great team spirit. But of course this can differ from team to team.
Work-Life-Balance
There might be times with a higher workload, but as you can work remotely and more or less flexible, it's mostly up to you and your own self-management if you can set your personal limits. What needs to be said is, that in general air up is a very ambitious company searching for ambitious employees. If you are not willing to make some extra hours from time to time or to take a task outside of your responsibility, you might not be the right person for the company.
Vorgesetztenverhalten
Depends on the manager. I got along with all my managers very well and had the feeling that I could always be open and honest.
Interessante Aufgaben
I'v been with air up for several years and my responsibilities and roles changed continously, which made it super interesting for me.
Gleichberechtigung
I would have wished for more women in the C-Level, but in the management layer there is an almost even split between male and female. In general, I have the feeling that everyone wants to support gender diversity in all levels.
Umgang mit älteren Kollegen
It's a pretty young company, but I don't think older employees would have any disadvantages.
Arbeitsbedingungen
I had everything I needed incl. access to a great office in the heart of Munich, all tools and software that a modern company nowadays uses and a home-office bonus to purchase everything I needed for a nice work set-up at home.
Umwelt-/Sozialbewusstsein
air up is a purpose-driven company. In addition to the per se sustainable product, the company aims to reduce it's own impact on the environment by near-shoring the production, supporting charity initiatives or taking care of the well-being of their employees.
Gehalt/Sozialleistungen
I initially started with a rather low salary, when the company was still in its start-up phase, but later it could keep up with similar roles in other companies. The benefits (30 days of vacation, great pension scheme program, urban sports club support, home-office-bonus etc.) was a great plus.
Image
As far as I can assess it, the brand and it's product are perceived very differently among different social group. E.g. younger people find the brand and product very cool, why older people often don't see the value of the product. In my opinion (and I know that other ex-employees see that differently), air up is doing a lot to act according to its values and the people who work there are mostly people who can identify with these values.
Karriere/Weiterbildung
The fast growth of the company offered a lot of development potential for those who joined the company early and those who were willing to take on new responsibilities. Additionally every employee had a yearly budget for further training, which wasn't used a lot and also not promoted by the managers - at least in my team.
