A product that had potential but never bloomed because of upper-management's lack of trust/communication/honesty
Gut am Arbeitgeber finde ich
¯\_(ツ)_/¯ The ability to transfer money to my account ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Schlecht am Arbeitgeber finde ich
See above and use your imagination. There is a lot more.
Verbesserungsvorschläge
Oof baby, that would take a while. I know "they" will read all of this (Btw I also heard some of these alphin Kununu reviews are faked, so be aware.)
I could give suggestions for improvement. There are many. The problem is that they all require some introspection and they all concern personality. So... you know. Maybe a couple years of therapy will show some progress.
Arbeitsatmosphäre
Colleagues make a good atmosphere most of the time thankfully! Unfortunately it's quickly brought down by communication with upper management. It's very tricky to speak honestly about this issue considering there is only *one* problematic element to the team. Just know that you won't be respected for your value unless you're servile, accepting, agreeing constantly to upper management's random decisions and backtracking.
Kommunikation
Great communication with teammates.
Absolute nightmare with upper management. I have never known worse, and one of my former colleagues with 15 years of experience in tech told me this was the worst experience she had.
Kollegenzusammenhalt
The only great redeeming part of the product team. Colleagues are from a plethoras of different countries and cultures, all very open, friendly and approachable! It's very easy to make friends here, and the shared difficulties with upper management actually help making those bonds stronger. Of course, a common enemy always makes strong allies. :p
Work-Life-Balance
When it comes to home-office, it's entirely up to you which is nice-to-have. But spending less time in transportation is quickly overshadowed by how shitty you could feel at the end of a day, after spending hours under unquestionable, unjustified and unreliable orders of the all-powerful superior.
Vorgesetztenverhalten
Let's be fair, it's not all management. So let's separate good/bad without mentioning who, or how many are concerned. You can decide for yourself if the good can outweigh the bad.
The Good: Respectful, focused, and passionate PMs who were not afraid to "get their hands dirty" in the whole product design process. Always supportive and forward-thinking, and always trying their best to improve the communication and processes, despite the very difficult environnement.
The Bad:
Lies and deception to shift blame. "Control-freak" that needs to check even the smallest of tasks/decisions and usually changes them at the last minute, putting your efforts/expertise to the trash with - in my opinion - no valid reason.
Huge ego and all that comes with it: No apologies, no compromise, no introspection. Holder of all the knowledge even in your own field of expertise. However many years of experience you have won't be enough. Everyone in product/tech at alphin is subject to this behavior.
Add to that: Total lack of trust towards employees, lack of empathy, honesty, straightforwardness, and... massive decision power in product/tech.
Interessante Aufgaben
Started off great actually. A lot of freedom to decide how to keep building the product design process. On-site user/customer interviews were fun, interesting, and valuable.
Then, as soon as "upper-management" started meddling in everything-product/tech-related, all tasks became robotic, mindless execution of orders. Marketing graphic design as a UX designer (ugh..), and when it comes to actual features/fixes, each decision you take is brushed off. "They" know better.
Gleichberechtigung
I have no clue ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Umgang mit älteren Kollegen
I haven't notice or felt anything particular regarding age.
Arbeitsbedingungen
The office is nice and clean, although the previous one was 100times better. It felt less like a office and more like a home.
Umwelt-/Sozialbewusstsein
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Gehalt/Sozialleistungen
Salary was above average, which is of course, appreciated.
Just know that, you will not - and I mean *never* - get a raise. :p
Image
Alphin is subject to the classic "We're a family"-type mentality from management. We all cringe at it. But at the same time, we - the co-workers - do indeed feel like we can support and count on each other. Everyone in product/tech understands that there was opportunity for a great alphin product a while ago. It's way too late now. Developments in A.I. technology makes all alphin solutions obsolete.
All of that to say: The image we have - the employees - is far from the image you'll get at first.
Karriere/Weiterbildung
Looooooow, very low training budget.
