Opportunities for some (IT & physicians) but a toxic environment and classist culture in great parts of the firm

Schlecht am Arbeitgeber finde ich

Like many before and after me, I was coerced to leave the company under untenable pretenses. Had we not found an agreement, I would have likely had to sue for being fired illegally.

Verbesserungsvorschläge

Cut down informal hierarchies that priviledge few within the sphere of the "higher ups"; introduce formal training and formal training requirements for management; disincentivize nepotism; Betriebsrat.

Arbeitsatmosphäre

While relations were great with my team and persons I worked with directly, higher management was impossible to deal with, routinely subjecting employees to bossing and harassment. I experienced downright cartoonish scemes to get me fired before I quit. Physicans and, potentially software engineers stand above others, with the former especially asserting an informal system of hierarchy and priviledge.

Kommunikation

Despite a plethora of (company-wide) meetings to inform employees, the communication of actually relevant information was highly informal and could be a matter of chance if it reached you or you were even involved in decisions, regardless of your stake in the issue.

Kollegenzusammenhalt

There are many great people at AMBOSS, but you could not expect your collegues to stand up for you in the face of harassment for fear of punishment from those above.

Work-Life-Balance

This point is fine for most departments

Vorgesetztenverhalten

Lower and middle management would regularly not stand up for their team in the face of challenges and discrimination; albeit there were exceptions. Higher management exploited their position to secure it, often due to their own inability to perform their job adequately (little or not formal training) or because of (often unrealistic) demands from higher up the chain. Regularly management would make projections and set up plans that were unfeasable in the the given timeframe; such failures were regularly just dropped to save face.

Karriere/Weiterbildung

There was no such thing as substantial career development or training. Career development depended on networking and whether you had a good personal relationship to higher management; expertise, experience, previous successes were rarely considered.
