Glamorous Image, Toxic Reality
Gut am Arbeitgeber finde ich
Opportunities for working on high-profile projects.
Schlecht am Arbeitgeber finde ich
- Lack of proper onboarding: No structured agenda, no introductions, and minimal training.
- Leadership issues: Emotionally charged and manipulative team lead, unclear expectations, micromanagement, and passive-aggressive communication.
- Toxic work environment: Stressful atmosphere, poor handling of interdepartmental tensions, and no protection from leadership.
- Overwork culture: Regular overtime expected for career progression.
- Lack of trust: Negative comments about team members behind their backs and breach of confidentiality.
- Zero recognition: Achievements and hard work go unnoticed, leaving employees undervalued.
Verbesserungsvorschläge
Address the toxic leadership style and hold team leads accountable for their behavior. Provide mental health assistance to those who need it, especially to those in leadership positions, because you cannot lead and truly CARE for others if you do not know how to take care of yourself.
Arbeitsatmosphäre
A toxic, stressful and emotionally charged atmosphere. Some members of management are manipulative and exhibit passive aggressive behaviour and communication style. A culture of silence and "just getting on with it".
Kommunikation
Very much top down with lack of transparency. Information often shared via email rather than in meetings.
Kollegenzusammenhalt
The teams within the department appear to work in silos, however come together in critical situations. You can depend on your colleagues, but the general vibe is that everyone keeps to themselves.
Work-Life-Balance
Over hours are “business as usual”, even directly encouraged in order to show “dedication” and qualify for promotion. Many ad hoc, last minute projects are often added on top of regular responsibilities. I was told - “it has always been like this…we never seem to learn”.
Vorgesetztenverhalten
There is a complete lack of trust. You are told one thing and soon after faced with a different opinion or scenario.
The team lead would make negative comments about other team members behind their backs in 1:1 meetings.
Personal health information shared in confidence was forwarded to others.
Leadership gave no clear guidance on expectations, no clear briefs.
I received no onboarding or training. I had to continuously chase down my manager to find out about my responsibilities. Meetings were set, but simply ignored (would be left waiting in calls) or constantly delayed.
The team lead’s frequent absenteeism was coupled with micromanagement and passive aggressive emails. I would be told to “feel empowered” and later criticized and made to feel guilty for the decisions taken.
Team lead would bring in extreme stress and chaos into meetings and ahead of presentations to the board. Rather than protecting the team, we were often left to deal with the rising tension between departments.
Interessante Aufgaben
The workload is very heavy and you are expected to manage it independently. Even as a new employee, with no personalised onboarding or training, I was criticised for needing help from others.
Arbeitsbedingungen
The new campus is impressive and has all the tech and tools required.
Umwelt-/Sozialbewusstsein
The company does a lot to be environmentally and socially responsible.
Gehalt/Sozialleistungen
Well paid, but not worth the mental and emotional exhaustion and the regular over hours.
Image
It is extremely disappointing to see such an acclaimed company, which prides itself on new ways of working and excellent leadership, allow such toxicity on the inside. The external image distorts the reality within the campus walls. The core values are empty slogans, at least in this department I did not witness care, trust, simplicity or courage, especially from the leadership.
Karriere/Weiterbildung
As already stated, career progression is directly connected to putting in extra hours. Highly efficient employees, who get work done on time and leave work within the hours stated in their contract, seem to be disqualified.
