After almost 7 months... uncertain times (updated review)

Gut am Arbeitgeber finde ich

Schlecht am Arbeitgeber finde ich

There is no real goal for the company. Management always shows the same set of slides that are very difficult to translate into real actions. Sadly, I’m not sure how long the train will hold.

Verbesserungsvorschläge

The Management team should take 20 minutes of their time and sit and read the reviews in here…I think that will be eye opening.
In a nutshell:
* Focus - What is Elli main goal - How wants to achieve that? - Focus on the products that will help the company achieve its goal.
* Transparency - Management still hasn’t got this right - Too much bureaucracy and people who seem „untouchable“ take the steering wheel without knowing exactly what is it that they are driving.
* Employees - Stop the „blah blah blah“ and take real action! - sourcing for new people is more expensive and time exhausting than listening to your employees and do your best to keep them

Arbeitsatmosphäre

At least in my department everything is fine (normal work stuff, no "drama" so far). However, it seems like in some other departments this is not the case. If you go to the office you can feel sometimes the stress other colleagues from other departments are under.
UPDATE: my comment on the top still applies. Now with a whole new re-organisation program on the go, the work environment has darken a lot. Our management seems to not understand the core problem of the company and what it seemed to be a good start with a new CEO proved not to be. I wonder if the Board ever reads these reviews here in kununu…

Kommunikation

So far I have been part of several company wide meetings where different departments share what they're up to. I think the change in upper management seems to have an impact on transparency, apparently for the better!

Kollegenzusammenhalt

So far, with the people I had to work with it has been wonderful! Everyone is so welcoming and friendly.
UPDATE: well… although my comment still stands for my direct colleagues, I cannot say that for the whole of Elli. Some times it feels like half of the people are into some hard core silent quitting, because you never get answers and only get one after the 5 email putting their bosses in CC… not good.

Work-Life-Balance

Flexible working time + mobile working. I cannot follow on some comments saying there are meetings on the weekends and after working hours. This has not been my experience so far.
UPDATE: My comment still stands.

Vorgesetztenverhalten

My direct superior has been very friendly and tasks are communicated directly and openly.
UPDATE: This hasn’t changed either. I wish however for more clarity on the company’s end goal but I believe not even my superior has it.

Gleichberechtigung

As an expat, LGBT+ and PoC I haven't feel any type discrimination or disadvantage so far.
UPDATE: my comment still stands… sad that NO FEMALE NOR PoC NOR EXPAT is to be seen at management level, C-Level, Board… nothing. SO no real representation there on the so called „Empowering Diverse Life“ :( sad

Umgang mit älteren Kollegen

There aren't much old people in the company, it is quite a young company that way.
UPDATE: Same… not a lot of older people really.

Arbeitsbedingungen

Here is where my biggest frustration so far starts. Sadly the offices in Berlin, Munich and Wolfsburg seem to be from three different companies. Getting access to the offices is already a pain since the ID to get inside the office is not available by the start at elli (even though I sent my pic and infos since the beginning of January). It seems no one really knows when you'll get it and if... So going to the office the first three months (or even more) is almost like a home office mandate. Nevertheless, I personally got very nice hardware equipment, so working from home is also not bad.

Umwelt-/Sozialbewusstsein

My perception is that Elli is very enviromentally focused. But that's it, just my perception so far.
UPDATE: Well… not at all. Sadly a lot of green washing and diversity washing - no real environmental or diversity agenda.

Gehalt/Sozialleistungen

Even though salary is fine, is not extraordinary in my case. The VW influences seem to not have gotten to this aspect (yet) - Apparently VW people working at Elli seem to have higher salaries/benefits. I've heard there's some talks wrt salary adjustment and some more benefits being discussed with/by the works council.. but that's it.
UPDATE: Besides a little problem with the general salary raise for me my comment stands. It is however, very clear that I was not as good at negotiating my salary at the beginning. Hopefully the soon-to-come grading system will prove me wrong. But I doubt it.

Sadly Elli doesn't have a very good image out there... a simple google search shows you how much one tiny part of the work Elli does stains the whole image of the company (wallboxes). Internally it seems that Elli just got some internal re-structuring that made some people not that happy and thus affecting the image they had. But overall the people I've talked to so far are very positive about the future (new leadership incoming). So I think Elli needs to work harder on Marketing for elevating its image in the outside world, A LOT.
UPDATE: Elli’s image out there is just bad. In the VW-Group chances are given repeatedly but still the reputation stands and how bad! - Outside VW is simply not part of the market. A lot of other big players have taken over the market in ways Elli can’t.

Karriere/Weiterbildung

I heard there are some things going on here from HR.
UPDATE: Apparently everything will be solved out with an online courses training platform… mmm…
