Gut am Arbeitgeber finde ich

Modern equipment, water, coffee, nice colleagues, canteen, bus stop, parking, inhouse seminars, summer party, X-Mas party, kids day, students day, inhouse doctor appointments.

Verbesserungsvorschläge

Please treat all IIS divisions and all IIS division departments the same despite how many they are and how productive in revenue they are. Also with respect to limitation of term of contracts. All divisions should be treated the same when it comes to extension, payment, praise. Don´t favor one division. We are all in the same boat.

Arbeitsatmosphäre

I like working with new equipment, tools and lab tools, office space, work exchange with colleagues is good.

Kommunikation

Could be better spread, some information stays with head of department or group leader and is not shared amoung team. Also overall strategy of institute and division is not clear enough.

Kollegenzusammenhalt

Generally good, depending on what department you work for. May change from team to team and over time.

Work-Life-Balance

Come early if work is done can go early, come late if work is flexible and you could start late but let your group leader know and also your team mates what you prefer early after start.

Vorgesetztenverhalten

As said the communication and shared and communication style could be better. room for improvement. Some division leaders are more friendly and outgoing than others. Some leaders are too much travelling and team members can hardly reach out to them. Some, mine, do not listen enough or don´t take enough time for team member issues.

Interessante Aufgaben

If you work as scientist there are lots of interesting talks you could work on, I also heard if you are in the administrative field, some jobs are not very flexible and repeating and for some frustrating as they can not grow in their tasks. In the lab and R&D field there is room for growth and experiencing and learning new things.

Gleichberechtigung

In the scientist field almost all go with TVÖD and equal rights and equal pay not a big issue. But in administration there are quite low TVÖD payment levels that downgrades some with experience. Generally a problem with TVÖD payment scheme. Once in a payment level you will hardly have the possibilty to upgrade and jump higher in the levels. Limitation of term of work contracts is and has always been an issue.

Umgang mit älteren Kollegen

Quite ok, as also some older aged externals working with teams in the scientist field.

Arbeitsbedingungen

New equipment, also in Labs and field testing, pc equipment you can choose between WS and Mac. Rooms shared enough space, quite modern environment, labs air conditioned, parking slots for cars onsight available with e-charing possibility. Bus stop outside 295 that takes you to Erlangen-city center.

Umwelt-/Sozialbewusstsein

Feel ok, not sure if trash bin contents are separated by the cleaning staff in the end.

Gehalt/Sozialleistungen

Limited TVÖD contracts as standard. In administration majority limited to 4 years. As said TVÖD is the marking point, strict with TVÖD scheme. For admin staff more an unequal experience payment (means lower) issue than for the scientist staff.

Karriere/Weiterbildung

Lots of inhouse seminars offered.

Dear former colleague,

Thank you very much for your feedback. We particularly appreciate your detailed comments. This will enable us to continue our work and implement improvements for the institute.

We would like to take this opportunity to address a few specific points from your feedback.
The strategy of each division is discussed and planned for the future in close consultation with the directors of the institute. Contract renewals, the extension of fixed-term contracts or salary developments for employees are also discussed here taking the financial situation of the respective division into consideration.

We will forward your feedback concerning “Vorgesetztenverhalten” to the appropriate colleagues. We will also be conducting an employee survey in the near future. This will provide us with even broader feedback, from which we are able to derive appropriate measures.

In terms of communication, especially when it comes to the institute's general strategy, we already have several channels for providing information. One example of this is the IIS All Meeting, in which our institute directors report personally on relevant topics. However, relevant information is also regularly published on our intranet.
