Great 2 years of my working experience
Gut am Arbeitgeber finde ich
Culture, Colleagues & Brands
Arbeitsatmosphäre
The working atmosphere is really great, and I am saying this after experiencing 2 other Pernod Ricard affiliates before coming to Germany. There is a great balance between “having fun at work” and “now it’s serious business”. And for people wondering how can you have fun at work just imagine working for a bank, now imagine working for brands like Absolut or Lillet so it’s pretty easy to enjoy what you do and to have fun when the brands have “entertainment” embedded in their DNA. But as well, Pernod Ricard as a company is known for it’s great parties & employee events.
Another very important point is that Pernod Ricard strives not to be a super hierarchical corporation, so really doesn't mather what is your title you can open go and talk to anyone else without being formal or in a stiff matter.
Kommunikation
Yes, overall communication is great withing Pernod Ricard. Compared to other companies I’ve been working for there is no “secrets” culture on most of the topics. Corona really did something good in this sense - having regular updates (every 2 weeks) on all possible relevant topics directly from the MD is really great.
On the other hand, Corona strongly impacted “success celebration” – it feels different now but mostly because the virtual world celebrations will never be able to replace the real life.
But this is a topic where things can be always improved.
Kollegenzusammenhalt
As a foreigner in Germany this was the topic that I was most afraid about before moving to Cologne. And i am very happy to say that i was wrong to worry. I found amazing colleagues & friends in Pernod Ricard Deutschland. I think that very strongly connected to our company main value "conviviality". I was very warmly welcomed by everyone, and not for a single second i had the impression that someone is judging me because i am not German. More than that, everyone was genuinely interested about my background and where I am coming from.
More than that, there is a strong “team” feeling (and not only inside Marketing), people are always ready to help each other and I never encountered the bad part of competitiveness. Yes, there is competitive environment, but a constructive one because we have great projects and great people.
Work-Life-Balance
Pernod Ricard has a very flexible approach when it comes to working hours. In all my time here I never felt that someone is “watching” me how many hours I worked or how long my lunch break was. As long as the job is done properly nobody watched the time.
Of course there are periods of time when the workload overflows and many new projects are started at the same time but this is not constant thing.
Vorgesetztenverhalten
As I was mentioning, Pernod Ricard tries to steer clear from an over hierarchical approach and this thing really ensures a great relationship between the leadership teams and the employees. The management is transparent and realistic when setting company & employee goals. In the last period employees opinion on certain things was asked more frequently.
Interessante Aufgaben
Of course, working for spirits come with its perks when it comes to projects – there are plenty cool & enjoyable projects to work on (e.g. festival, events, collaborations). You can always ask your managers for certain projects or discuss openly about what you would like to do more or less. Also the level of autonomy is quite high and you can shape some projects as you see fit as long is in line with the agreed strategy.
Gleichberechtigung
I think Pernod Ricard tries a lot to close the gender gap and to be as inclusive as possible, but this will remain an on going topic to work on.
Personally, as a woman and foreigner I never felt that I was disadvantaged in any way.
Arbeitsbedingungen
The office is nice and in a great location. And we have a bar, an actual bar – so I would rate the working conditions very good.
Umwelt-/Sozialbewusstsein
Yes, Pernod Ricard Deutschland tries to be as environmental friendly as possible. We have an “Green Office” team responsible for optimizing our environment impact and regular “green” initiatives.
Gehalt/Sozialleistungen
Well, salary is a sensitive topic because is very personal and people tend to evaluate it from different angles. Because life is not always about money. Nevertheless Pernod Ricard pays fair salaries but not the highest in the industry. Of course there other general advantages (meal allowance, own products discounts, a list of shops or services that you can get a discount for, etc) or others that come with different positions (like company car).
Image
I think Pernod Ricard Deutschland has a great image, and I am saying this because I have other Pernod Ricard affiliates experiences. And even if some of my colleagues might not agree with me on this point and maybe some of the above, I can confidently say that PRD really does a great job.
Karriere/Weiterbildung
The main criteria for advancement in Pernod Ricard is performance and I think this is always clearly communicated to everyone. The company supports the development of its employees and offers a wide range of tools for people to learn and grow.
