Verbesserungsvorschläge

Management: Q Energy needs to hire/promote individuals with knowledge in the industry and management skills.

HR: It is important for HR to have clear policies and procedures in place to address and prevent unacceptable behavior by managers, as well as to provide training and support to managers to ensure they are aware of and uphold acceptable standards of conduct in the workplace. Additionally, HR should be proactive in addressing any complaints or concerns related to manager behavior and take appropriate action to address and resolve the issue. They also need to work with empathy and without bias, or the company will continue to lose employees who leave due to unhappiness. Furthermore, HR needs to acknowledge that the company faces significant challenges due to unaddressed cultural differences, particularly because Korean corporate culture is strong and Korean management is not equipped to lead people from diverse nationalities due to their resistance to change.

Arbeitsatmosphäre

It is a horrible environment to work in, every single employee is on burnout due to the lack of processes, management and support.

Kommunikation

The communication section can be divided into three different categories: management-employee; coworkers-coworkers; employee-HR; and in all three categories communication is non-existent.

Management-employee: employees face changes in their tasks and workload without being informed in advance, which makes for an extremely stressful workplace. Management treats employees worse than pawns in a shitty game of chess.

Coworkers-coworkers: due to the huge mess that the company is, all employees are stressed and without knowing the right team to address, making a hostile environment among teams.

Employee-HR: HR is unprepared to deal with real problems that any company with so many different international backgrounds as Q Energy Europe is should be prepared to deal with it.

Kollegenzusammenhalt

Due to the hostile environment mainly caused by the lack of management skills from the entire management board there is no team spirit. In fact, several cases of miscommunication/problems/conflicts among teams and team members were caused by the bad conduct of the heads of departments.

Work-Life-Balance

If you don't take care of yourself, Q Energy Europe definitely won't either.

The management will overload you without any assistance and criticize when the task couldn't be completed on time. The mental pressure of that will make you have a mental breakdown within months from your first day, even before you complete your probation period. Besides that, the management will state that sick leaves will be seen negatively, making you even more afraid to take a sick leave when necessary.

In your spare time, if you're not among the few (very few) lucky employees who are happy, you'll be using it to recover your mental health and/or look for another job. So there is no work-life balance.

Vorgesetztenverhalten

Where to begin?!

Let's start by saying that one star is a lot. And the experience of an employee who has a korean manager is completely different from an employee who has a non-korean manager.

Korean corporate culture is very vertical and submissive (in their own words), so if you have an opinion that differs from your manager's and you voice it, be prepared for hell. From the point you do that, dismissive behaviour torwards you start.

Interessante Aufgaben

There are several cases in that the management assigns tasks to the employee that are not in their job scope, along with constant changings in the work scope.

Gleichberechtigung

The employees are treated completely different based on age, gender and nationality.

Umgang mit älteren Kollegen

Korean corporate culture prevails male older colleagues. Therefore, if you are a young female employee you will be authomatically in the worst positions within the company.

Arbeitsbedingungen

Workload: too high.
Processes: non-existent and when you make suggestions of improvement you become the "complainer".
System: excel spreadsheets in their most basic functions.
Corporate culture: sweep problems under the carpet and find someone to blame.

Umwelt-/Sozialbewusstsein

It is a company that focus on profits and numbers.

Gehalt/Sozialleistungen

Q Energy Europe complies with the agreement. However, nothing extremely inviting, the downsides are bigger than the salary paid.

Image

The 3.9 on Kununu it doesn't reflect the reality. The reality of an average employee working at Q Energy Europe is reflected at best by a 2 stars.

Karriere/Weiterbildung

Despite the lack of a carrier plan at Q Energy Europe, the company predominantly hires Koreans for management and team lead positions. Furthermore, the company is observed to go against the conventional approach of employee development by assigning individuals with multiple degrees and years of experience to roles that involve manual and monotonous tasks.

Dear former employee,

Thank you for sharing your feedback regarding your experience at Q Energy.

We appreciate your honesty and openness in providing valuable insights into areas where we can improve.
We take your feedback seriously and want to assure you that addressing these concerns is a top priority for us.

However, since you left the company in 2022, many things have fundamentally changed.

Open, transparent communication and dialogue between our management and employees is very important to us and is exemplified by our new CEO and appreciated by our employees. This is also reflected in our core corporate values, which determine how we work together and are the compass for everything we do: changemaker, partners, responsible and inclusive. HR topics such as career planning are now also being reorganized.

We are certainly not at the end of the road yet, as the transition to a pan-European company will always entail a reorganization of topics and processes. However, the perceptions you describe in your review do definitely not reflect everyday working life in our company today.

If you like, you are welcome to come around for a coffee and see for yourself. We are always happy to talk to you in person.

Your HR team
