Be open and confess that you need experts and even geniuses but confess too that you will not pay them like you pay managers - show at least clearly what you pay exactly for experts in career levels compared to equivalent manager positions. This was clear and completely transparent in former times in this company. But today it avoids to be transparent in paid salaries especially for experts. If you confess to say what you really will pay high level experts compared to managers then employees can really decide if it makes sense for them to join this company for an “expert career” or if they shall just avoid to join it for such a career.

As expert or genius your ideas and results are not recognized or appreciated. Forget a career as expert or genius in this company.
